Clear Channel Traffic

Listening to CC Macon's Urban 97.9 WIBB and heard a familiar voice. Dyron Ducati, on-air jock and traffic reporter on WILD 105.7/96.7 also doing traffic in Macon. Has Clear Channel downsized that much to where one reporter does traffic in various markets?

That's been going on for a while. In fact, Clear Channel's (Total Traffic's) former competitor, Metro Networks (now also owned by Clear Channel), does the same thing. And it's not just in small markets like Macon. Metro's Atlanta reporters sometimes do traffic for markets such as Memphis.

Over here in Jackson, our traffic reports come out of New Orleans. I'm not against the people who do it for a living, but it's not as if traffic reporting is so much of an arduous task that some out-of-town company needs to come in and do it. It's just like contracting out the time and temperature, when all one has to do is turn to the Weather Channel or weather.com to get the info.

Occasionally you'll get a n00b who refers to "Pon-say-day-lee-OHN Avenue in DekaLLLB County...", or "CH-amblee" instead of "Shamblee".

I had to recut about 20 commercials one morning by not saying Dekalllb. It was for an agency and I had to Fed EX them to Chicago out of my own pocket. (pre internet days).
