Clear Channel

Seems like nobody wants to by their stations in Alaska. No talk of any offers and people on the air are grumbling during their shows. A couple of them have been calling it Cheap Channel on the air.

Are they trying to sell just state by state or in big blocks in other parts of the country?

they are selling off smaller market clusters throughout the country

besides........just like if U were a jock or whatever, that's a big stretch living in places like alaska or hawaii (tho i must say the wx in hawaii wins out LOL). it's a long way away, trying to operate a cluster that's so far away and isolated.........the cost of operating there HAS to be somewhat higher. it would have to take the *right* kind of owner and mindset willing to meet all the challenges

from R&R website

Former NAB TV Board member Dean Goodman has invested $452.1 million to scoop up the remaining 187 Clear Channel stations in the 448-station bundle the Texas behemoth put on the sales block months ago.

Goodman’s grab includes stations in Huntington, W.Va.; Coal Grove, Ohio; Eau Claire, Wis.; Fenwick Island and Bethany Beach, Del.; Booth Bay Harbor, Maine; Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska; Salisbury and Ocean City, Md.; Fort Smith, Ark.; and a slew of similar small markets where radio competes to the last blood cell with local newspapers for the advertising dollar.
