So what happened with the Clear Channel massacre that was supposed to strike the nation on Tuesday? I haven't heard much about it, either here or from my old hometown radio friends back east. Did they not lay off hundreds of staffers as planned, or did they succeed in their mission to hand out the pink slips on Inauguration Day to keep things hush hush?

The CC dismissals did happen - as well documented on Radio-Info, on Radio & Records and All Access' websites. 1850 gone...searching now for their next job. Keeping it hushed? Hardly as it was noted on the Drudge Report and elsewhere. But a 9% workforce reduction gets minimized quickly when someone announces they're laying off 5,000 employees as I believe Mircosoft announced Thursday.

I have seen many discussions posted on numerous messages boards...some even so rudely by some expressing joy over certain folks getting fired. I personally found that extreme and won't wish what happened on anyone, at anytime. These are challenging times we live in and I won't take any joy in any of what happened. Radio is not what it once was and certainly will not remain as it is now.

I wish only the best for those who have lost their jobs as none deserved what they have received.

Wolf2. . . I'm pretty sure Clear Channel didn't call Drudge with the news they were laying off staff. I wasn't saying that the layoffs were supposed to be secret. . .just that CC's plan was to begin the layoff process on Inauguration Day to minimize the bad publicity. It's the same as when politicians release damaging reports on a Friday evening after the news airs. And at the time I asked the question, nothing was posted yet. . .at least not locally here nor in my former hometown in PA. As it is I still haven't heard about layoffs in Anchorage.

Kids - kids! Play nicely :)

I know the station doesn't have good coverage in Anchorage, but has anyone given the new Country Legends 100.9 from Wasilla a listen? Sounds good so far, good to see some competition in that market.
