Philly was an exception. First, with under 4% Hispanic population, the market was much smaller than Chicago, DC or NY to name a couple. Second, the market is mostly Puerto Rican, and in its third generation in Philly... the large migration ended towards the late 60's. Those under 40 are pretty assimilated and not likely to use Spanish language radio much. And the younger generation is like Jennifer Lopez, who had to be taught Spanish (in J-Lo's case, to do the Selena film) if they were to be able to speak it.
The market exists in Chicago, although as you say, it is fragmented enough now. No market existed in Philly for the 18-34 format Clear did there.

El Patron recently sorta "Merged" with its in market sister that was also Spanish (I think it was called Viva 105.7) while 105.7 flipped rhythmic AC.
NO domain names with "El Patron" along with the frequencies have been registered. There was one registered in 2007 with 103.5 but it was not by Clear Channel.
If anything they'll flip 95.5 to Regional Mexican as "El Patron" which they should have done in the first place.

As I said, "On the other hand, in Atlanta Clear had a CHR and a regional in Spanish. They dumped the CHR and kept the retional station alive. WNUA is Spanish language CHR... maybe they plan to flip it, and the reporter for TeleGuia got it wrong?"
OTOH, Chicago already has two full regionals, and one "Mexican" format (sans "regional") so the field is crowded. There is only one full signal CHR, 95.5.
Maybe they will read this thread and not do anything. ;D ;D

No way Clear would put an AM in Spanish with a music format knowing that Hispanics use AM even less than non-Hispanics...

I wouldn't say an FM would flip, but WNUA would maybe become a Regional Mexican/Spanish Pop hybrid just like 105.3 El Patron in ATL (which is actually showing good ratings). If anything, they might flip one AM station, possibly 1390 or 1690.

WLEY is a suburban stick and is directional away from the north to protect WVCY Milwaukee on 107.7, so areas north you're going to have issues with listening to The Law. I believe its on the WSCR tower in Glendale Heights.
I remember living in Zion going thru a lot of trouble trying to hear the old WYSY back in the 90s.

Also several years back WLEY had a licenced booster station downtown. Whatever happened to that?
