Sad to report that longtime Cleveland radio veteran AL JAMESpassed away last week. Al had a long career in Cleveland radioincluding several years at KYW 1100 and WHK 1420 beforeleaving for a job with the Voice Of America in Washington.Al also served several years on the Executive Board of theCleveland Local of AFTRA, many of them as Treasurer. He wasretired. Services were held May 8th in his hometown of Rockville,Ohio.

Al was also with WWWE in the early 70's. Wonder, though... do you have him confused with Bob James (WHLO, WGAR) who was with the VOA or were both of them there?

Bob James (Pondillo) was also at the VOA in 1974. He is currently an Associate Professor at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. He has a PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and has been teaching broadcast journalism for the past few years. ::)

wait--I am confused. Is the person who died "The REAL Bob James" who went on to New York and the American Comedy network??? :'(

Al James and Bob James were two different people. It was Al James who passed on.
