My post on AM had a nice response (thank you), so fair being fair I'll do the flip side now.
WCPN--NPR--Leans a bit too far left for my taste, but serves a purpose.
WXTM--modern rock--Rover will benefit from being in a Sternless universe, but overall still has the image of a Buzzard wannabe.
WZAK--urban ac--Joyner's a force in the morning, and the format itself has been doing solidly for a quarter century now.
WFHM--contemporary christian--Salem's golden child in the market, just picked up John Tesh, and is sticking it's toe in the soft rock pool just a touch.
WAKS--top 40--A force with the younger crowd, but how much "My Humps" can one take in a day?
WNCX--classic rock--Good thing it has Tom Petty's "Free Falling" in it's playlist, because that is the result of WNCX in a Sternless universe.
(Though to be fair, the music will keep it from being a bottom feeder)
WGAR--country--Solid as a rock, perennial Top 5 station.
WMMS--rock--Sean, Hunter, and Christy will benefit huge from being in a Sternless universe. Having the Browns doesn't hurt either.
WDOK--soft rock--Another solid station that keeps rolling along. Kinda neat going from a Carpenter's tune to a Faith Hill tune. The Fish is trying to go into their turf a bit.
WCRF--Christian--Been doing "preach and teach" for a long time.
WQAL--hot ac/top 40--seems to have settled in to a new schedule of Connor-midday, Toohey-pm drive, Leeza-evenings. KISS 96 is breathing down their necks.
WCLV--classical--Good that they saved the format, and trying everything to strengthen their signal, but still hurting from moving to 104.9.
WMJI--oldies--Lanigan and Malone will no doubt be undisputed kings of am drive in Sternless universe, plus the music will always be a ratings grabber.
WMVX--hot ac--Brian and Joe will pick up some Stern stragglers. becoming a hybrid DOK/Q104 combo type station.
WNWV--smooth jazz/easy listening--a nice change of pace from the KISS/Q/Mix noise.
WENZ--hip hop/rap--WZAK with extra hot sauce.
Overall, light years ahead of AM.
Edited by vjm on 12/17/05 05:27 PM.
