Cleveland Radio January 2024 Ratings

https://ratings.****************/content/arb019

Things getting back to normal now that the holidays are over.

Nice jump for WKSU.

WAKR making an appearance.

Older demo radio continues to win, reflecting national Nielsen trends which reveal that young people are not listening to the radio for music. Young-oriented music stations like Z107.9, Kiss and WNWV 107.3 are all way down the list, and WMMS is pretty much buoyed by the drive time talk shows and play-by-play broadcasts.

Except that WGAR had a huge post-Christmas jump, and WGAR is basically the new CHR. All of the music is new, and all of the artists (with a couple exceptions) are under 40. Country radio is defining the playlist for that demo right now, from Morgan Wallen to Luke Combs to Lainey Wilson. Hard to find a format that gets as much loyalty from younger demos. It's like rock radio once was.

Yes, country music stations are generally the exception to the rule.

Majic and Star's holiday sugar high looks to have worn off.

WKSU is getting a nice bump as we're now in election season.

WNCX and The Fan took a hit after Browns season ended, and conversely WTAM and WMMS got nice Cavs hot streak bumps (and being in election season is news/talk's bread and butter, which is also helping to goose 1100/106.9's numbers)

107.3 is starting to find solid footing.

5 iHeart + 3 Audacy + 1 Urban One + 1 Ideastream = Top 10.
