Cleveland Radio

On the AM side:

WKNR 850 has the "Really Big Show" with Tony Rizzo 9a-1p, "Afternoon R & R" with Michael Reghi and Kenny Roda 3-6p, "Browns Daily" with Vic Carrucci from 6-7p, "Xs and Os with the Pros" with LeCharles Bentley and Je'Rod Cherry from 7-9p, and Greg Brinda from 9p-12a.

WTAM 1100 has Wills and Snyder from 5-9a, Mike Trivisonno from 3-7p, and Bob Frantz from 7p-12a (if there's no Indians or Cavs game).

WHK 1420 has "Kelly and Company" with Tom Kelly from 11p-12a

WERE 1490 has "America's Work Force" with Ed "Flash" Ferenc from 4-5p

WWGK 1540 has "Munch in the Morning" with Mark "Munch" Bishop from 7-9a

On the FM side, notable local talk shows include "The Sound of Ideas" with Micheal McIntyre from 9-10a, and "Around Noon" with Dee Perry from 12-1p on NPR station WCPN 90.3

"The Maxwell Show" from 6-9a on WNCX 98.5 (though a move to WKRK 92.3 is possible)

"Rover's Morning Glory" from 6-11a, and Alan Cox from 3-7p on WMMS 100.7

And the gold standard show in Cleveland "Lanigan and Malone" from 5-10a on WMJI 105.7

There has also been talk of turning the aforementioned WKRK 92.3 into an all sports staion, which would no doubt feature some local hosts as well.

There are many more. WBWC 88.3 FM has "The Morning Buzz" which is their morning show 6-9am.
WAKS has Java Joel in the evening slot, and they are also live in afternoon drive, I believe. Also live in evenings is WQAL, and "The Latin Assassin" on WENZ,
I'm sure a-lot of the stations are live and local during drive times. WFHM, WNCX (Michael Stanley), WGAR (Chuck Collier), WDOK, WQAL, WNWV, WENZ (Colby Cole). There are a number of local folks on in mid days, such as Josh Booth on WFHM, who may be voice-tracked.

I thought he was merely talking about talk shows.

DOK is live and local from AMD through 7 pm (when Delilah comes on), GAR is local most of the day (midday man Michael J is voice tracked), AKS is local from 3p-12a (Kasper then Java Joel), QAL, NCX, NWV, and ENZ are local all day, FHM is local up to 7 pm (when John Tesh comes on) and I think Josh Booth is live.

If we're talking suburban markets, there's WOBL/1320 and WDLW/1380. Live and local from 6am-6pm weekdays on both stations, and all day Saturdays and Sundays (WDLW has ethnic programming on Sundays). Plus live newscasts throughout the entire day.

nope, Maria is VT.

has she always? I could have sworn I used to see her if I turned into Maxwell's webcam early back in the day. I thought she has taken phone calls during give aways as well.

Maria is in studio but VT'd. Almost like they're afraid to have her on air. I don't get it, because even her tracks are amateur sounding.

I think WMMS is biding their time until they can get their hands on a testosterone feuled talk show to fill the gap between Rover and Cox.

Sure, WMMS is primarily a young talk station. Lines up great with sister station WTAM, who gets middle-aged & older men, and a lot of play-by-play & sportstalk listening by default (for the time being).

Was WCLV mentioned and I missed it? WCLV's classical morning drive program is local. I get up at 3 a.m. for the privilege of hosting it. What I can't figure out, gentlemen, is why a local commercial station that has kept the same format for nearly 50 years is the Rodney Dangerfield of Cleveland radio. Our oldies beat everyone else's oldies and I have the playlist to prove it.

If this is indeed Jacquline Gerber, then I apologize, since I'm the one who made the list.

WCLV is pretty much local all day, and should get more kudos than it does on these boards.

By the way...you guys aren't planning to switch to sports talk are you? ;D

Just kidding.

Keep doing your thing, good classical music stations are hard to find these days, and Cleveland is lucky to have a heritage station such as 104.9.

Welcome to the board, Ms. Gerber!

I was going through the lists above, and I, too, forgot WCLV when reading the lists. And I know you do AM drive!

I think when we make lists like this, we tend to think of the "popular format" stations...no offense intended to 104.9. But, classical music isn't really "front of mind" for a lot of people who aren't regular listeners to the format.

They should listen to you...you have a fine program.

After re-reading most of the posts on this topic, I must join in the giving of props & respect to WDLW and WOBL. Live and local much of the time on small AM signals. Aren't you tired of hearing nationally syndicated talk on lots of AM stations? WDLW has a great music mix and they have local newscasts along with their music format. I understand that life on the AM band can be tough these days, but WDLW/WOBL must be doing something right. They have the infastructure for local music hosts, local newscasters and local sports people. Good job!
