Cleveland TV Revolving Door

Anyways TEGNA is getting rid of Directors and will eventually be all AI. Tens of thousands of jobs will be eliminated once the system is implemented. Per FTVlive.com.
The “tens of thousands” probably refers to the overall broadcast industry.

I’ve been reading dozens of Reddit posts from TEGNA insiders, and it sounds like the new CEO is going to gut station staffs across the board. Most staff at individual stations will be eliminated, while those who remain will be combined and centralized into hubs, with only a skeleton news department remaining in each market. Most station functions will be turned over to AI.

One poster referred to the new CEO as a “tech bro” and another called him an “Elon Musk wannabe.”

New AI technology will be tested at several TEGNA stations, then rolled out to the entire station group.

Of course there is a lot of speculation that TEGNA will be put up for sale, or broken up into pieces once all the changes are implemented.

WKYC mentioned on social media (with a cake posted) that they were number one at 6pm, 7pm and 11pm. WJW also posted (with a cake) that they were number one as well.

Jiovonni Lieggi wasn't in town very long. The revolving door continues at WKYC, which will likely not stop in 2025.

I have a feeling the revolving door will continue to spin at WEWS and WOIO as well.

WKYC is now reairing Entertainment Tonight on weekdays at Noon (filling the void left by Good Company). ET continues to air weeknights at 7:30, where it has been untouched since 1991!!!

Channel 3 has never really had a noon - or even midday - newscast (outside of a couple of short lived attempts)

WEWS and WJW have had them forever, and WOIO joined the party shortly after changing from Fox to CBS all those many years ago.

But for whatever reason, it has never really been WKYC's thing.
