Click's Clock Done Ticking?

Anybody else notice how boring Click 1015 is starting to sound? Ratings not looking too good either. They're sharing a lot more songs with The X, now that they flipped to Alternative. Their gold product is beginning to get stale. Just not exciting to listen to anymore. Adult CHR shift coming soon? What are your thoughts?

Flip to Adult CHR? No way, since there's already a Hot AC and CHR in the market. Perhaps there is room for one more, but I'm not seeing it. Will Click flip? It's a matter of when and to what.

I hope they would simulcast 1410 but if they do I would think they would have to have the local show be 3 hours instead of the 1 hour is currently is.

In that situation, I rather have Click :D
I actually like Click, minus the burnout of gold titles, which they have always done. Modern AC has enough material that you don't need to play the same golds multiple times a day. What we're discussing is what format would be most feasible for 101.5, which Click is not.

They ought to move WING AM to the FM. That was my initial guess before they surprised me with Click. Click sounded great until they fired Scott Sands. Brad Waldo & Mike Collins have done an awful job since the departure of Sands.

I listened to it on the first day after the demise of WKSW...never really impressed me that much.
I really believe Mainline made a mistake with this move...the move that made CC swap frequencies with "Channel" and "Lite FM." CC killed Click.

WING tried an FM back in the late 90s with 102.9 previously WAZU....another move to Dayton. Some things are better off leaving well enough alone.

Mainline could have re-invented Z-93 instead of doing this. Fly is okay musicwise but boorish with only one or two personalities. As for WING...keep it on AM (and...) GET SOMEONE TO MAN THE BOARD FULLTIME SO THERE ARE NO MORE (...uh should I say) ON-AIR FAUX-PAS (...to put it lightly sans the expletives).

I really miss Z-93 myself, but Mainline is too cheap to do CHR with a full air staff. If I was them, I'd either put the Sports-formatted WING-AM on 101.5, OR move Fly to 101.5 and do something else with 92.9's massive 40,000 watt signal. I'd put a CHR/Hot AC type format to come between Channel and the old-sounding, stuck in the 80s Mix. They could always do a live/local morning show & perhaps a live afternoon show, with the rest voice tracked or just music.

They seem to be doing good with Lousville's WDJX being CHR. So I don't see why mainline didn't try to save Z93. Not only that but they run a Hot AC there too.

That Hot AC would be 102.3 The Max/WXMA. JD Kunes helped with the creation/launch of the station. As a huge fan of Z, I was sad to see it go & my guess is that ML wanted to try to hurt Mix, which it did in its 1st book when Fly barely beat out Mix 5.6 to a 5.5. They could've leaned more Hot AC & kept Z on the air. Sad.

Glad everyone agrees. WDJX plays enough hip-hop to protect it from Max and vice versa. Z played plenty of hip-hop and still sounded different enough from Hot 1029.

Click is never going to crack the upper echelon of Dayton radio because it has a dinky little rimshot signal. doesn't even cover the metro well let alone the TSA. Put anything you want on that stick, it's still a small share signal. "You can take the prettiest Yugo to the Indy 500 but you ain't gonna win the race"!

The big problem with Z was that Hot was in the building, and received preferential treatment from then-owner Radio One. They threw all of their money at Hot 102.9 and left the scraps for Z. Z was ignored for way too long. I do remember Randy James leaned Z in a Hot-AC-like direction back in 2000-01 when he was OM/PD, and it didn't work out too well. If I could bring back Z now, I'd make it a current-based Hot AC/CHR hybrid and bash Mix for playing all of the "Stale, old 80s stuff" instead of today's hits. Oh well, that would be what I would do, and I would dump Click and move Fly to 101.5.
101.5 is a 6,000 watt directional signal. It's one of the weaker signals in the Dayton metro. Up here in Springfield, it comes in crystal clear. I've heard that there are signal problems to the south though, especially around Miamisburg. I agree with an earlier poster that no matter what you put on 101.5, it's only going to do a 1-1.5 or so.
