KMIZ is an interesting choice to be the only Columbia station represented. Possibly it was the clearest signal for over-the-air pickup of an ABC affiliate (other than KMBC) since it was the only Columbia TV station at the time that had its transmitter in Moniteau County.

I wonder if that system carried KRCG (CBS) from Jefferson City when it had the K11OJ translator in Sedalia, which replaced KMOS , which functioned mostly as a KRCG repeater, when KRCG sold it to what was then CMSU.

KMOS came back on the air 1979 as a PBS member station; K11OJ would have been built that year or the year before. Yes, there actually was opposition in Sedalia to KRCG's sale of KMOS. KOMU in Columbia wasn't especially pleased as well since they were always afraid of losing Pettis County to the Kansas City market.
