Clinton talk show

I read awhile back that Bill Clinton would be getting his own talk show and it could actually follow Rush Limbaugh's show in many markets. I never heard any more about this. Does anyone know if the deal fell through?

No deal. Just speculation or wishful thinking on the part of some.

No major market talk programmer in his right mind would follow Rush with Clinton, especially if that means (as it would in most markets) dropping Hannity. You'd have almost complete audience turn-over and Clinton as a talk show talent is completely untried. He might do OK but given the kind of money he gets for books and speaking, he'd want more than any programmer is likely to gamble on him. AAR is the only talk distributor likely to go for a deal with Clinton and they couldn't afford him.

Clinton is also inhibited by being an ex-President and being concerned about his place in history. He'd have to be statesman-like and that would be pretty dull radio - even dull public radio.

Well said, Fred.

Actually, the rumor was about a TV show.

If he does go through with it, he'll no doubt make fun of Rush just like way Rush made fun of him during those eight years (1993-2001) he was in office.

I doubt he would even mention Rush on his show. On the otherhand, I could see him invite him on his show.

Puh-leeze. If Clinton does sign for a TV show, on the first broadcast he can talk about the blizzard that day in hell.

What are you guys picturing here any way?
An hour or half strip show five nights a week?
A weekend public affairs show? A cross between This Week and Firing Line?

And who would watch any way. Even Rush (with Roger Ailes producing) didn't do that well in TV.

They could never pay him enough to make it worthwhile.
The only possibility would be a Tonight style show, which would give him a chance to meet chicks.
From the Larry Sanders Show:
Arthur: (To the head writer) This show isn't about you getting laid. It's about Larry getting laid.

Why are we even talking about this? Clinton turned down this opportunity years ago. He keeps himself busy enough with speaking engagements and philanthropy work.

Oh, I doubt he would do a show myself. I was just specualating to someone saying he would bring up Rush alot.
