Clock Out Of Kilter?

I mentioned something about this just in passing, in another thread and should have proofread my post there, but I will post that part of it here and say what I meant to say, herein.

Oh and is it me, or is the board's clock messed up? It said Mike's post came in at 3:41 (it says twenty minutes ago) and when I checked the time on my PC clock, it was 3:30. I'm not talking about Eastern versus Central (or as we say 'round here, Fast Time versus Slow Time), either.

On rare occasions I have seen the board clocks get out of whack, where posts have a timestamp of "In 15 minutes" or some such "future" reference. it's as if the post has the right timestamp but the overall board clock is slow, thus it sees some posts coming up as future events.

I've seen the clock listed as ahead, with the time listed as being behind. As in your post coming at 5:45, but it says forty minutes ago.

The board software calculates the time on posts based on "reading" what time zone your own computer is set to. If something prevents that from being detected, all bets are off.

In the words of a former pastor, the now-late Brother Bill Loftis, I don't understand all I know about that. Dunno what setting would be preventing it from knowing what timezone I'm in, everybody else knows LOL.

E.G., just before I started composing this reply, I saw that this thread, according to the homepage, was last posted on at 9:54, 27 minutes ago. As soon as my screen reader told me that, I checked my PC clock and it said it was 9:50.

Roger on that, thanks. The link proved most helpful and even a little entertaining. I'm not gonna clear the cache though and reckon it is an aggravation (the clock being out of kilter), but reckon it'll clear up sometime, so don't reckon I'll worry about it or bother folk with it anymore. Again, thanks and thanks for stopping by.
