Clock ticking on 94.7 Decatur. Could it be...

Kinda surprised. The new calls — WIEZ — made it sound like they might go soft/beautiful AC like 96.9 used to be in the olden days.

Gotta wonder, though, how much appeal the format will have in such a small town, where the demographics for the music are "one foot in the grave". And I say that as someone who grew up on the (third? wave of) oldies in the 80's and loves the music more than anything else.

Really surprised this new format is 60s and 70s oldies bc one would assume that most oldies listeners of that era would be considerably older and accordingly this type of programming would be more difficult to sell. I do know a 25 year old though who loves 50's, 60's, and 70's oldies music, so there are always exceptions to the rule. I kinda wondered that myself about the call sign being WIEZ if that was some reference for "EZ listening", although I figured the new format wasn't going to beautiful music. Most of the "easy" branding today is employed by soft AC or soft oldies stations, or as I prefer to call the former..."Easy AC". 25+ years ago, "Easy" would typically indicate a beautiful music format.
