Closed Captioning and promotional consideration...provided by (ee)

"Closed Captioning and promotional consideration for (Fill in the Blank)...provided by:" is a phrase that should be abolished from all syndicated programming. Decades ago, the phrase made sense because an announcer would jump in and say the name of the sponsor, then continued with a short 5 or ten second spiel.

Today the phrase hangs around like a useless appendix. "...provided by:" (or by-ee) "Have you ever experienced the discomfort of a dry mouth" or some other such non-sequiter.

How about "These sponsors have provided closed captioning and other promotional consideration for (Fill in the Blank.)" It's just two more lousy words!

AMEN! It's just total sloppiness on the part of programmers that the practice continues. Credit one captioning sponsor properly with a PROPER voiceover, but the PC garbage needs to go. It's nothing but clutter.

While we're at it, how about we bring back the 2-second black buffer between commercial pods and commercials like there uised to be? No reason for that not to exist today.
