Closed Captioning on Family Guy on TBS

It's possible that that's the way it was scripted, and the voice over actor adlibbed the change during taping. Later when the captioning was added to the code, the original script was simply uploaded without the change.

I recall in the Simpsons episode where Homer fancies himself an inventor, he invents a makeup gun and he sprays Marge. Marge says he has it set to "whore," but the closed caption says "hooker"

One interesting thing I noticed at the gym I go to, they have different model TVs and sometimes the captions will vary. Not much but by a letter or two.

For some reason they have two TVs side by side and the same station on each one. And the captions on one model will be fine, but the other model, they'll be missing letters or substitute in other letters. Like one of the TVs can't decode it correctly.

And it varies from time to time as to which TV messes it up.

I was watching Family Guy on TBS tonight with the Closed Captioning turned on.

Chris clearly said to Brian "Welcome home a**hole." But on the closed captions it said "Welcome home d****e bag". Isn't that weird? (BTW the *s are my censoring).

The original Fox airing had "welcome home, ******bag"; the subsquent TBS/Adult Swin airings had the another tagline.

You'd think it would be the other way around, with Fox airing the tamer content. Example: One of the episodes where Brian and Stewie went into the future, Brian bet a guy to meet him "on top of the World Trade Center, September 11th, 2001, at 8:48 AM." I saw that on Adult Swim; Fox, not so much
