CLUELESS ABOUT ATLANTA Top-40 (??)

Haven't been to ATLANTA in a very long time as I just moved back to AUGUSTA from NEW YORK. As a kid I remember going there and hearing POWER 99 (WAPW---Now WNNX) Then I thought "Star" went TOP-40 for a while. Early this year, I drove through ATL and it seems that "Star" is a HOT-AC format and the only CHR that I found was a Q100 that I could barely pick up within the city limits!! I think it was licenced to ATHENS. Which brings me finally to my question.

What is (if at all) the big main TOP-40 station for Atlanta (PROPER)??

Well Atlanta radio purely SUCKS.
Q100 has recently increased their power. It is now the equivalent of a 50kw signal, really does have excellent coverage now.
Probably Q100 is the main Top-40 station, Star does not have a clue what it is.

Q100 is the only pure CHR/Pop station in town. Its recent power increase allows it to cover a lot more ground now including Gwinnett county. It's licensed to College Park and its transmitter is downtown.

Star 94 jumps on the line between CHR/Pop and Hot AC. It has a much more powerful signal than Q, but isn't as much a CHR as Q.

But they are billing more than Q and the Beat and most Atlanta radio stations so they must be doing something right.

Now if I would have said this, I would've been outed as the PD of Q.

Happy Thanksgiving.
