CMA Awards

Not technically about radio though they do give awards to radio stations and personalities.

I liked the tribute to George Jones.

I mostly liked the tribute to Kenny Rogers.

The hosts should have been ashamed. I taped it so I could fast-forward through all the junk and their so-called contribution was part of the junk, yet I actually watched it.

I liked more of the performances than I thought I would.

I liked the sexy outfit one of the winners of "I Drive Your Truck" wore.

Kacey Musgraves is cute and traditional enough and has a natural beauty compared to, say, Miranda Lambert. Taylor Swift also wears a lot of makeup, but who cares? As long as it's not TOO much.

Taylor whould not have attempted to sing "Red" with Alison Krauss and Vince Gill. I couldn't tell that either of these legends really did anything worthwhile in that performance, which is a shame. But Taylor messed it up as usual. The word "red", for one thing, has only one syllable, and with that type of performance, anything else would just be weird.

It struck me that a lot of the performances sounded more like rock than country. It was the more country sounding ones that appealed to me: the George Jones tribute with Alan Jackson and George Strait was my fave.

Taylor's performance could have been worse. The clip of "Red" I saw on the AMA awards was atrocious.

Luke Bryan played heavy metal with a banjo.

And as for the Nelly performance--we can be grateful we weren't subjected to that on a country music program.
