CMA Fest Broadcasting

I may not be listening at the right times. But why doesn't Nashville Country radio do more broadcasting live from the CMA Fest. I was sure that when I tuned in today I would hear a lot more stuff from the CMA Fest. I was just being told by the voicetracked or emailtracked radio personality what was going on last night at the awards show and the artist coming up nnext was going to be on LP Field.

I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering this question.

it's a tough call - while they may be interested about the CMA events, a large portion the target audience tends to stay far away from them.

disclaimer - I'm speaking just for me, and not representing any radio station here ;D

Okay this is the CMA Fest- Country Music Association Festival. If your station plays country music then why would your target audience stay away from the Country Music Festival? This doesn't make sense to me?

CR ~ so, you're saying according to today's ratings, Nashville should have turned out by the MILLIONS to see Rupert Holmes. YESSSSSSSS!

Jason - I'm just suggesting that just because the target audience is interested in the CMA, doesn't mean they will go
downtown to hang out among the throng of cowboy-hatted-fanny-packed tourists. The locals are already surrounded by the
industry... no need to see it from that point of view.
best/worst analogy I can come up with is this:
there are hundreds of thousands of Titans fans that would never consider attending a game @ LP

does that make sense?
remember - my prior disclaimer remains in effect ;D

Maybe because scalpers charge too much and only 2 teams are playing at one time

doesn't mean they will go downtown to hang out among the throng of cowboy-hatted-fanny-packed tourists.
Did you ever see how the 'cheese heads' dress or the Raiders fans when their teams are in town
Plus...those fans didn't want to hang out and have to wear cowboy hats and fanny packs when they could go to bonnaro and wear anything they wanted or didn't want to
wait....am I turning into Scott????

Romer yea I understand that part, very good point there. But I just think they should have more about it on the radio. I think it would be cool if they did all the concerts on the radio for the whole cma fest. I know that's not going to happen but I think it would be good ratings for one of the country stations.

FWIW...WSIX did 7p-12m from the CMA fest Wed-Fri...with weekend updates....
and updated the station website with CMA stuff on a regular basis.
As for the concerts...can only imagine the legal hurdles with broadasting them.

Lol 7 to midnight I never listen to the radio so I didn't hear it then. I heard Big D and Bubba giving updates through the afternoon Wednesday through Friday which was great. I heard WSM doing clips of stuff during there morning show which was great. Really never heard anything about the CMA fest on WKDF except for Becca talking about different things that happened at the CMT Awards. After a while I get tired of the same old songs everyday so I head back to the Ipod to listen to podcast and songs I love.

i would venture to say well over 90% of the "fanny packed touristos"..are out of towners..i would think the majority of locals have better thing to do than stand in this heat waiting for a pic with the latest "country" manufactured star........

Well I'm in Nashville and I don't want to be out there getting autographs and standing in the heat waiting to meet country stars. I just think it would be cool if the radio stations did more remote broadcasting from the event. Someone commented that they were out broadcasting from 7 to midnight. I and I'm sure most other Nashville country music fans listen to the radio while there at work which would be from 8 to 7pm or so.

My understanding is that there is a national remote where radio stations from around the country are broadcasting from CMA Fest. Also Sirius/XM is broadcasting some stuff. Even if you don't live in Nashville, the experience of being at CMA Fest is being discussed. I've seen a lot of TV coverage on GAC as well. However, a live broadcast of the performances, as someone else said, is not available for legal reasons.

Yes, Premiere ( formerly MJI broadcasting, beofre it was purchased) provides space for mostly Top 50 market stations to broadcast during CMA Music Fest, and CMA week in November , usually sponsored by Chevy Trucks. They provide ISDN connection and will provide equipment ( mixer, mics and headphones) for the station to rent, unles they care close enough to bring their own gear. They bring artist by for interviews, and it give these stations a chance to have them record liners and promos...most stations bring some sort of recorder, unless they have a guy back at the station to record everything.
