CMT dropping infomercials?

On their Facebook Page CMT put a link to watch its new sitcom WORKING CLASS on its website. That led to the comments about them not showing videos anymore (which isn't true. They show them for a few hours everyday in the morning). And someone complained about the 3 hour infomercial block. Well in response to the complaint about the 3 hour infomercial block CMT responded that it may be changing soon.

I'm guessing that they will be replaced by those fine country music movies like "Splash", "Welcome To Mooseport", "The Rookie" and "Rockstar". ;D :D ::)

Oh yeah, how many more times are they going to run "Pure Country"? Isn't it about time to change the film on that because the tape is probably ready to break the thousands of times it has been played?

And where are all the country music videos from the 1980's to the 2000's on there? They have dozens and dozens of videos yet they can't play anything that is before 2008 or so. Guess the sooner that CMT gets to where MTV, MTV2 and VH1 are now the better.

Back in its early days, CMT (or CMTV, as it was known at the time) apparently had so few videos in their music library that they used to air what I would now consider to be "crossover" videos. I remember "Back in the High Life Again" by Steve Winwood getting airplay on CMTV back then.

Hmmm... Maybe they're looking to land Don Imus as soon as Fox Business is done with him? I mean, compared to a lot of the schlock that ends up airing on CMT, Don Imus can be considered a genuine country show simply by wearing his trademark cowboy hat.

Wasn't he already on RFD TV?
He's got an 'in' with the market then.
I smell ratings gold!!!!!!

I don't think so. CBS Radio fired him a few years ago because of that racist comment. And although CBS and Viacom aren't sister companies anymore I still think they are corporate cousins.

CMT may (or may not) be dropping infomercials, but if your local cable company still decides to drop infomercials in those spots, then it really won't matter, will it?
I know cable companies can drop local spots in a break, when the network clears the time for local spots, but can they take half hours at a time to run local infomercials? I don't see a network allowing this especially if the network is running commercials in that half hour.

Depends on the carriage agreement. I used to have Mediacom, and and least locally they would dump out of Discovery infomercials and air their own. I know, because I had a Tivo that would never get the enhanced content that was on their teleworld paid programming block.

I don't know what other networks allow this to happen.

I think HGTV still allowed cable companies to replace one of their afternoon shows with an infomercial or a local program, mainly to encourage local programming related to the genre of the channel -- don't know if they still allowed this practice.

Locally, I've never seen Bright House in Tampa Bay insert infomercials or local shows into HGTV during the day.
