CMT going down the drain

Can someone please tell me how the movie "Son in Law" with Pauly Shore fits CMT.
Where's the logic here?
Also Celebrity Bull Riding with Vannila Ice as a contestent.Come on.....

This is what happens when you let MTV Networks take over your operation. Let's not forget the endless showings of "Young Guns", "Country Fried Home Videos" and "Trick My Truck".

Thank God my cable system also has GAC!

In the beginning the different cable TV network were doing "narrowcasting" -- fulfilling niches of interest rather than trying to be all things to all people -- being like the very traditional TV networks they were concentrating in the past. Not only that, the endless, endless, endless commercial breaks.

Bravo is a ghost of its former self.

CMT Canada dont need shows like: Roseanne, Reba, Married ... With Children, Hope & Faith

Good point.

As for the American CMT...remember Nashville Network? I think it got "Spiked" :D

Let's hope that doesn't happen to CMT (Canada and USA) down the road...

I dunno, dawg... I think I once read on these boards someone posted that FOX could add it to its stable of cable networks, what with how "patriotic" Fox is...

I see how they've relegated most of their non-country programming to the overnights. They're even airing "Ed"? My gosh!

CMT has been going down the drain especially in the past couple of years showing worn-out reruns of VH1 and MTV shows such as Hogan Knows Best (since when is Hulk Hogan country), Trick My Truck, Coyote Ugly, etc. The movies aren't even remotely country. Since when is Son-In-Law and especially Pauly Shore country?

For anything that is remotely country, check out RFD-TV on weeknights and they show classic country shows such as Pop Goes The Country, The Porter Wagoner Show, and The Wilburn Brothers Show, among others. I have seen some of the shows on YouTube since I don't have the channel and they are amazing. Too bad CMT wants to cater to younger people who thinks that this type of programming (the reality shows, the stale movies, non-country programming) is acceptable.

...or country.

As I mentioned in a thread about TV Land in the classic TV forum, everyone these days wants to be more like FX or USA; niche no longer matters. And I should add that changing labels to fit the format doesn't matter, either.

According to the "new" CMT, Kid Rock is a major country music star. ???

I wouldn't say "Major" but he is...

He replaced Sheryl Crow with a new female voice in his "Picture" song at one of his live concerts, and that gave it the country feel.

Outside of that, ??? Major?

Please tell me the CMT Canada line up is a mistake for FX.
If CMT starts airing "Married with Children" here ,I am shooting my TV and sending it to them.
SAD SAD SAD.
:'(
What happened the niches they all had.
