CN8's weekday newscasts at 1, 7 and 10 p.m. have their final telecasts Aug. 18, a network rep confirms. Your Morning, with Connie Colla and Greg Coy, not only escaped the hatchet, but will add an hour. Now seen from 9 to 11 a.m., it moves to 7 to 10 under the new schedule, which debuts in early September.

Because CN-8 is also available in areas in and around Boston, Hartford, Chicago and Denver as well.

But will the cuts be on all CN8 channels nationwide, or just in Philly? I imagine each channel is different, and may have plans different than the Philly edition.

Because the local Philadelphia region newscasts that air at 1, 7 and 10 PM EDT that air on CN8 will be canceled. That's why its in the national thread because a news division is shutting down. The cuts are coming from the New Castle Delware studios, the place were the newscasts come from. Correction from today's Inquirer:

An article in a preprinted section of today's Inquirer misstated the reason for laying off more than 40 news staffers at CN8. The cable programmer is shifting emphasis away from local news. New hires will create programming designed for viewers in CN8's entire 14-state viewing area. Most of these new positions will be in the Philadelphia and Delaware area.

You just gave the reason why this is belongs in the Philadelphia board and it seems like a local cable news operation is shutting down - BFD! The article also seems to reflect that it is basically a Philadelphia area thing.
