CNBC to debut new show hosted by....

Michael Eisner. Yes, the ex-Disney CEO.

He was just interviewed on one of the Squawk morning shows. A new show, "Conversations with Michael Eisner" will air on the biz channel twice a month in primetime, but a premiere date, strangely, wasn't mentioned. There's supposedly a further formal announcement soon.

Most of the interview touched on how at one time ME was an NBC page, the origins of the show (he subbed for Charlie Rose in the last year or so for an ep or 2) --CNBC's head honcho approached him about doing a show after seeing how ME did with Charlie Rose, what kind of interviewees the show will feature (mostly CEO's, execs, creative types), plus ME's opinion of where media is headed.

Does the name "John McEnroe" mean anything to these guys?
How about "Dennis Miller?"

This is another future former talk show.

You did know, of course, that the CNBC nighttime schedule is written using an Etch-A-Sketch ...?

The list of "former" shows is a long one, and includes such name hosts as Phil Donahue and John McLaughlin.<P ID="signature">______________

Yes, but at least Phil and John are talk show hosts. They've earned the right to fail, but John McEnroe? Mike Eisner?

They're thinking they'll get lucky like they did with Donnie Deutch (sp?). With a background in money, you'd think they'd figure out that "hope" is not a strategy.
