CNN 86's D.L. Hughley

Is it true that the show is cancelled after this weekend?

While sifting through last night's episode, I saw a segment featuring clips of the previous episodes, ending with a graphic that read:

"D.L. Hughley Breaks The News
October 2008 - December 2008"

Also, at the end, D.L. didn't say "see you next week" but rather "have a happy holiday."

It could be curtains for D.L. after all. The show re-airs tonight. Set your DVR's.

Well, folks, now, it's official, as CNN cancels "D.L. Hughley Breaks The News," citing budget restraints:

I'm not surprised that this would eventually happen. What I am surprised at, though, is the timing. D.L.'s show is getting the most exposure ever thanks to an appearance last week by RNC chairman Michael Steele, in which he called Rush Limbaugh "incendiary" and "ugly".

I didn't see all of the Breaks the News editions because sometimes I just forgot it was on. The episodes that I did see were a little erratic but getting better.

On a straight news channel like CNN it must be hard to mix news with jokes. The Daily Show is on Comedy Central so you get jokes plus the news. I'm betting the Time Warner suits were never that comfortable with D.L.'s show.
