CNN Headline News on Cox

I noticed a few days ago that Cox in northern CT no longer carries CNN Headline News. On the TV Guide Channel listings the channel Headline News was on (70) is ommitted. They're showing a test pattern currently on that channel. Kind of unusual, as both CNN and CNN Headline News are on pretty much all cable systems in the US.

What?
In Lubbock, CNN has been on channel 34, in San Diego 32, and both were COX until recently.
Where have you heard that they are the same everywhere, or do you mean Cox digital?

Dang Cox Cable is getting cheap channels wise but not bill wise. I know the bill was just raised and it was also posted on this board. Also when MTV 2 was added to Cox it was added to Channel 53 as I remember. So whats the next channel going to digital cable? I don't know if the reason their moving the channels to digital if its because we get NESN, YES, FSN New England as most places get one regional sports network.

But where I live right now I have Time Warner and they offer lots of the channels Cox has on digital on regular cable which is all I have. Here is the list

VH-1 Classic
Noggin
Hallmark Channel
Golf Channel
Speed
Verus
National Geographic
Fit TV
Oxygen
WE
Lifetime Movie Channel

*also we get WGN

You think COX is cheap channel wise, try Comcast on for size! What a huge improvement it was to move to COX territory from Comcast territory.

And all cable systems are dropping analog channels for digital, to allow for more bandwidth for the ever growing HSI market. (Especially with the HSI users climbing due to the popularity if VOIP phones, Streaming video and DVR services). There will be a time, in the not too distant future when cable systems will all be digital only.

Here in Los Angeles, following the Adelphia buyout, Time Warner is the dominant provider. They duplicate a bunch of analog channels (CNN and Headline News, FNC, USA, TNT, TBS, FX, and others) in the digital and analog sections. They were forced to drop several analog channels due to non-compliance with FCC leakage radiation mandates. The majority of the analog channels are filled with LPTV and out of town infomercial channels.

My biggest gripe is that in order to get the mix of channels I prefer I have to buy an extra two digital tiers (no HBO or Showtime) and the so called "digital basic" channels are the ones duplicated from the analog sector. Recently due to the inability of AT&T to provide me with reliable and fast DSL I added internet to my package. So I now pay $105 for all of this and I'm not happy. Unless AT&T breaks down and gets some fiber to my area I'll add at least $10.00 more next year when my "special" internet rate expires. RIP-OFF!!!
