CNN Headline News said Monday it will eliminate its 4-6 p.m. ET newscast in order to bolster its editorial resources elsewhere. Co-anchors Thomas Roberts and Kathleen Kennedy will remain at the cable news channel in as-yet-unspecified roles.

To fill the time, two newscasts will be increased by an hour each. Those are newscasts anchored by Christi Paul and Mike Galanos, and by Chuck Roberts and Linda Stouffer.
I don't understand this channel anymore. This is the channel that now shows live car chases from start to finish, this is the channel that has Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace. What are they doing to this channel?

I liked the channel better when it was CNN on steroids...all the news you need to know in just a half-hour.

Ah...the good ole days!

CNN Headline News is becoming as important as MTV is for music videos. The news continues to be cancelled on cable news.

Truth in advertising should require CNN - and now, Headline News - as well as Fox News Channel and MSNBC to stop calling themselves "news channels." They are not. They are talk channels. Maybe (being charitable) news-talk channels. They have long ceased to be (if they ever were) the TV equivalent of 1010 WINS, KFWB News 98, WCBS Newsradio 88, WTOP, 780 AM WBBM Newsradio, KNX 1070 Newsradio and a handful of other news stations.

All news is hanging on in a few major markets on a handful of well-established all news stations. On TV, the all news format is dead. CNN, Fox and MSNBC have dropped all news in favor of news-talk. That's fine. Just tell the truth and say so.

And then we have Al Gore's video blog "news channel." If the other "news channels" are going to do conservative TV talk, too bad Al didn't try progressive TV talk. (Hey, I think Steph would look good on TV.)

Funny, I don't see any mention of it being a news channel.

I wonder if cable systems will pick up ABC's news channel. Last I checked, it's straight headlines.

I have never seen Current describe itself as a news channel. The right wing and some trades have characterized it as that, but it's never done so itself. I personally never watch it for exactly the same reason I don't spend a lot of time with blogs.

Current is basically blipverts for those who have ADD.
It is a shame that Al Gore purchaced News World International and replaced it with this garbage.

Your more charitable description of cable news is more accurate.

They do. But is there really any sense on them admitting what should already be obvious to us just to satisfy your need for technically legal correctness?

I don't consider Current TV to be either a news or talk channel. It is little more than a commercialized (And glorified?) public access channel with no sensible content whatsoever.

Comcast has it available here in Denver, but it's only available via their website.

To watch it, you can click here (RealPlayer, which you can get from here is required).

I keep hoping that Comcast will wise up and see the potential in making it available via regular cable TV (even, if not especially Digital Cable) here in Denver someday (I understand it's on some cable systems elsewhere). My guess and hope is that they'll move KWGN-DT 2.2 (Which airs The Tube network) to cable channel 242 from its current channel 248 position and put ABC News Now on channel 248 instead, which would be right next to KMGH's own NewsChannel 247 on channel 247 (Thinking that KRMA 6 will see a need to have channel 246 for something someday).

Just my $.02 worth :D

Cheers :D

Won't happen. I am sure Headline News will shut down soon. I made an earlier posting about why.
