Except that's not what she said.

She said it IS possible that painkiller abuse could've caused his hearing loss. That's not an evasive or ambiguous answer.

She also said the treatment, including using the cochlear implant, would be the same, regardless of whether his hearing loss was due to drug abuse or the aforementioned disease.

A reasonable person would at least admit that that's quite a coincidence, his "disease" surfacing at the same time as his painkiller abuse.

OK, different interpretations. With a lawyer in the family, I tend to look at press conference responses as carefully coached to avoid liability. In a world of malpractice and tort abuse, the doctors were likely highly coached by the Institute's legal staff prior to the conference, particularly since revelations about a patient's normally confidential records was to be discussed.

So perhaps there was coincidence. Who really cares and why does it even matter?

And this brings us to the real question: so what if Limbaugh was using Oxy? If it was prescription abuse, i.e. the drugs were obtained legally, it's pretty much his problem or that of the state medical licensing board. Oxy is used by an enormous percentage of persons and carries little stigma in a society where we have two states engaging in reefer madness.

And based on the opinions being voiced about how his show is less entertaining now than before, maybe his affiliates ought to send him a bag of tabs to get the "old Rush" back.

Maybe because you were pretty insistent that there was no chance that Rush's hearing loss was related to his drug abuse, which his doctor contradicted. You also said hearing damage from oxy wouldn't be resolved with a cochlear implant, which also wasn't true.

As much as so-called Rush "bashers" are called out here, there seems to be an equal amount of those who tend to make excuses and/or downplay any of his negatives.

Both can be equally as annoying.

As far as his affiliates sending him some "tabs" to get the "old Rush" back; the affiliates of Don Imus might want to consider a care package for him as well.

Not around here. It's more like 20 to 1 on the side of bashers, and the people who are "defending" him are just being honest. Something the critics can't seem to do. No one is making excuses. We're just looking at the FACTS objectively and not through the prism of an angry old jock that lost his job because of automation/syndication/Rush.

You defended him over this hearing loss/drug abuse thing to the point where you actually contradicted his own doctor.

FACT: The kind of painkiller Rush was abusing can cause hearing loss if taken in excess.

FACT: His ear "disease" appeared at the same time as his abuse of those very painkillers.

A reasonable person would think that maybe, just maybe, one had something to do with the other. That's just common sense. Yet instead of admitting that, we get the same tired "oh you're just angry, bitter, jealous of Rush, etc." canard.

Reasonable people wouldn't be using a deaf man's disability to score political points.

Political points? lol Is that how you view conversations here? Is that why you're staking out a position that flies in the face of common sense? We were talking about how he lost his hearing and instead of dealing in fact, you got hyper-defensive of him and started exaggerating, going so far as to make proclamations that contradict what his own doctor said.
