Why put it on at all?
WBD has truly ran out of content if that's the best they can do.
It's a CNN channel, not WBD. It's an additional revenue stream for CNN. The original programming division of CNN was the bright light in the company. When they run these original shows on CNN, the ratings improve. So this is simply providing this content on a continual channel, so viewers can watch it on demand. The other WBD content can either be placed on its own streaming channel, or on Max. Lots of places for it to go. This was the only package that didn't have a spot. Now it does.
Coming up after this: CNN+, again.
IMHO It's old content. I will bet a cup of Burger King small regular coffee a rerun of Friends will have better numbers.
In the same post you say it's old content, then bring up Friends, which is old content. Proving people LOVE old content.
It was old content when it was new, because a lot of it was historical. Kind of like the old Biography series.
Then again, that's why it's on a free channel and not on Max.
I can see going after the History Channel type folks. Is there enough content to go 12 hours a day and not repeat your self for a couple of weeks? If one can stream it for free they might survive with per inquiry stuff.
Once again, these shows were run on the main CNN channels for the past few years and got better ratings than the regular programming.
Perhaps the CNN audience is the same as the History Channel audience. All we know is these shows draw an audience.

Without getting political, what were CNN's ratings verse Fox? I had heard from some folks that CNN was doing poorly for a long period of time. Some folks won't watch CNN (or Fox) newscasts because of political views.
Please don't take the thread down the political rabbit hole.
Personally I used to watch both Fox and CNN newscasts and only believed something if it was on both.
I think that's pretty well known. The point in that these original programs were popular, and now they're being given their own channel.
The Originals are not all politics/current events.
It’s mostly entertainment not politics.
