CNN on 1070 AM

The other night before 11PM Eastern, I was listening to a station playing weird music on AM 1070. This station I found out was a CBC station. However there was some silence at the top of the hour and I could hear CNN's Top of the Hour newscast starting faintly underneath before I heard the CBC Station again, which was an announcement something to the effect of "Programming on CBC 1 and CBC 2 has been suspended temporarily due to a lockout. We hope to resume regular programming as soon as possible". The CBC station was 'CBA Moncton, New Brunswick'.

What station was running CNN on 1070AM?

WNCT in Greenville, NC is a CNN affiliate on 1070 and the only one I can think of off-hand. I know WIBC has Fox, WAPI has ABC, and KNX has CBS, so it's none of them.

While we're at it...CNN on 1690 AM

I've heard CNN's cable TV simulcast on 1690 AM after nightfall (in Cleveland) since late 2002. Anyone know where this station is broadcasting from?

I heard the same in Wisconsin. I wondered what it was. At first I thought it was what is now WRLL testing near Chicago. Just before WRLL came on, 1690 was a very active frequency around here. I kept getting KDDZ near Denver which I never got except once before.<P ID="signature">______________

Can't help you here. I have WTIC-AM 1080 from Hartford, CT to contend with here. Too much next-door interference. (I live just southwest of Hartford.)

It's WPTX in Lexington Park, Maryland. When they signed on they had a different owner. They sold it along with an FM sister station to a cheap owner who plugged CNN into the AM station.
