CNN Schedule Shake Up

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/cnn-looks-to-shake-up-schedule-after-ratings-hit-20-year-low.html

I know CNN has hit low ratings recently. I seen CNN recently they are basically becoming more like HLN and TMZ. The problem here is that their format sucks. Wait How is that CBS can do all-news for nearly 47 years for their radio stations. but Time Warner/Turner only did all-news for 25 years and faded right after Bernard Shaw of CNN left. I know CNN had deals with Dial Global to put a radio network up but it lasted only for 25-30 years. I understand that CNN was supposed to be like USA Today in their news content but now CNN and HLN makes Merlin Radio look good.

" They're even creating a new food and travel show starring the curmudgeonly Bourdain to try and boost their lackluster weekend ratings -- which would seem to lead the network even further away from its original hard-news mission." see the Bordain on CNN thread.

CNN stopped being relevant for me when they stopped during news reports and focused on talking about the news. It is non-stop blather; reporters talking about news, pundits talking about news, hosts talking to pundits talking about news. Blah, blah, blah. At least on FOX and MSNBC you get good ol fashion demogoguery. On CNN it's just pointless pontificating.
P.S. Betting the franchise on Blitzer was never a smart idea; He was a great reporter in his day but as a host he's duller than a box of rocks.

CNN's getting good mileage out of the Trump/birther thing they ginned up this week... Maybe they'll bring Trump on board next?

CNN's demise started decades ago when the network brass decided to "clean house" of the original anchors and reporters and replace them with high paid (so called) celebrities like Paula Zahn and Connie Chung.

CNN's Headline News meanwhile is nothing now but a combination of TMZ and Entertainment Tonight rolled up into one.

We called CNN the Clinton News Network because when the Impeachment Hearings were going on, CNN barely covered them back in 98. Their lovefest with Clinton was so bias they lost lots of folks

They should have a decent second half of the year with the election approaching, though. Doesn't CNN still outpace Fox News and MSNBC when it comes to casual viewers who tune in for big news events?

Don Imus was quoted as saying that the FOX Business Network, which also airs his radio talk show, has about the same amount of morning viewers as CNN. That is how pathetic CNN has become.
As for CNN Headline News, most of that network promotion centers on Robin Meade with the emphasis on how good she looks. Personally I don't care how good-looking a news anchor is. If that individual is a blithering idiot with no creditability then people with intelligence seeking news and information will go elsewhere.

I forgot HLN has some TruTV mixed in.

How does CNN, HLN, Fox, MSNBC explain that the Audience wants all-news thats objective. Except that people are looking for objective all-news in other places like CBS radio O&O's in the top markets. Cumulus is doing the same thing for Atlanta, Dallas and San Francisco. NPR Radio News and Pacifica Radio News in San Francisco. The Daily Show on the Viacom owned Website and on Comedy Central. Also in people can find objective news in apps and websites. I say the Market for objective news does exist it's just that the younger audiences are not going to CNN, HLN, Fox, MSNBC because they see the Cable News/Talk staff knee-jerking the issues via The Daily Show.

Why do you think CBS News Directors are formatting the CBS Evening News back to the standards of the Cronkite era with Pelly in the Anchor seat? I just think CNN, Fox News, MSNBC needs to stop looking at Merlin Broadcasting weak playbook.

I'm not sure that people DO want objective news. If it's really true that Fox Business rates almost as high as CNN in the morning, that's an indication that a lot of viewers would rather have sensationalism and news that is slanted and opionated. CNBC is a great source of mostly objective business news, but if Fox Business is making inroads, it's because they are catering to the same audience as their sister network - Fox News. And CNBC has plenty of conservative commentary, by the way. Their Larry Kudlow is as conservative as anybody on Fox, but his show is clearly MEANT as commentary, not objective news.

I think people are increasingly getting their news from the internet, in any case. I regulary visit a number of new sites, some objective, and some with a political agenda.
