CNN Weekends

Just wanted to post here to commend CNN on their weekend news committment. While Fox and MSNBC are running docs and hour old news programs, CNN is live for the most hours on the weekend.

Not sure where everybody turns for their news (or breaking news) on the weekends, but I'm fairly impressed with CNN and their weekend anchors (TJ Holmes, Don Lemon, Fredericka Whitfield, and [this weekend] Brooke Baldwin).

Where do you turn for weekend news?

I don't watch cable news channels much on weekends, Fox News still does plenty of news Saturday and Sunday, but what is missed is HLN doing all news, all day like they used to, except for prime time.

I think you make a valid point about CNN's weekend coverage. They do seem to do it better than their competitors. However, I find it somewhat "fluffy" as in "in case you didn't hear about this during the week...". But that is still better than Fox's "distant" approach, and MSNBC's headline service between repeats of news docs. I will say that if there was a major breaking story on the weekend, CNN would be my first choice.

Just prior to CNN, Brooke Baldwin worked for Bray Cary's "West Virginia Media Holdings," and did a great job there as well. It's a testimony to her talent to be able to make such a quantum leap so quickly.

I wonder if the ratings for her programs on "West Virginia Media Holdings" were higher than those of her CNN work...

On the weekends, I start with our local show, GMAZ (Good Morning Arizona). The Saturday show was the highest rated newscast in Phoenix in the February ratings. Then, I usually turn to CNN because I can't stand Fox's slanted approach to news (IMO, it's primarily opinion not news). I wish I received more world news on my cable system. I would love to watch BBC, CBC, and news from other countries.
