CNXRadio

Seeing as my car stereo has decided to return to functioning (I think it's a seasonal thing) I've had chance to actually tune around a little here and there as I make the 2 mile trek to work each day (perhaps why I hadn't noticed this sooner?). Anywho, I'm scanning around and I get this rather strong signal on 103.3 as I'm driving up Washington St. in Middletown and thought, wow! WODS Boston is coming in, what a rare catch! Then I notice the usual DX station slight fades not happening, in fact, the signal was rock solid, and at the point I realised this, the song ended and another one started and this was without segue, jingle, commercial, or annoying dj banter (oops! did I say that?) So I listened some more, and they ID'd as CNX Radio and later mentioned that they were broadcasting live in cd quality on the internet at CNXradio.com and the website mentions being a lowpower station (not sure how they define low power, as I got them clearly tonight from Stop & Shop in Middletown all the way up to the cromwell crossraods plaza.

Oh, I forgot to mention that under the program schedule they mention being hosted by Tom Termine & Janet Peckinpaugh, and sure enough hearing the station this morning I heard both, but they were pre-recorded id's that I imagine run all day.

Also, last night they signed off at 9pm asking anyone who wanted to continue listening to go to the website where they are 24/7.

Maybe, I drove by it yesterday, and didn't see anything, but that's not saying there's something in the backyard. However, from this location, they should have difficulty going uphill towards Washington St., and they are clearly heard all the way down High street heading south.

Low power station alright: Not getting even a trace of it here in New Britain's south end.

Another thing... today, after I got out of work, they were on the air, I assumed they would be on until 9pm again tonight as they were last night, they were off early (at least 6pm)

It was quite the experience to be a kid programming the old 1150 WCNX after its sale in 1976. We got some music consistency and news presence, and some attention from local listeners and advertisers in the shadow of Hartford. However, I'm not sure how much of a lasting imprint the original 'CNX made for itself, since the station went through a variety of formats from another sale in 1981 to its eventual switch to WMRD. At any rate, it was one of many unique radio experiences and I wish this latest incarnation of 'CNXRadio well.

Yeah, I also wish them well, and of course I'm curious as to what kind of setup they are using as well, near as I can guess so far, they are running sound from the Live365 stream they have over the air.

Simple logic says no, part 15 has a very limited range, I won't go into the tech stuff, that's been repeated enough times in the Community Radio board. This station is in Middletown and can be heard clearly in Portland and Cromwell, where a part 15 usually can't be heard beyond a few hundred feet.
