Let's keep in mind that ELB's WKFM/K96 is only live AM and PM drive. Satellited nights/overnights, including weekends, which is arguably more important than PM drive in a market like Sandusky. Arguably. Tourist season PM drive AND weekends are important. I'd be contracting with a traffic agency for in-season traffic due to Cedar Point. CC no longer owns WCPZ, etc...Contract with CC Traffic out of Cleveland or Detroit.
WLKR is live AM drive, and most of the midday to afternoon as far as I can tell. Tracked nights/weekends (no actual weather temps or time checks given is an easy way to spot VTing).
WKFM has 13 years market heritage, but it didn't start that way. Cut Coast some slack.
So Coast is satellited fed. Not a big deal when you consider WKFM's 13 years on the air, and WKFM is funded by a larger company than what BAS has to play with.
Not taking sides. Just the facts.
Is WKFM or WKLR "live and local". Not a great deal more than Coast or WCPZ....or some Toledo stations for that matter. And what is "live and local" anyway? I don't believe it means anything to the average listener. It's another radio liner cliche'.
Now, can a better job be done at localizing the sat feed? Yes. That's where WKFM rises far far above Coast. Make the sat feed work in your favor. If your not working it....that's just laziness.
I too saw the Coast and Wolf billboards. Bad marketing. Billboards are cluttered and they don't stand out in a good way. Too hard to read and ingest the info if a passive driver going by.
Where is the "creative". I thought radio was a creative medium?
Old radio rule - One thought per break. For a billboard - One message per billboard. One station per billboard.
