Coast 93.3 Makes Switch of DJ's

I think I heard David O'Leary on Magic 106.7 this weekend.

David has weekended at Magic since he left WBOS so his departure there was obviously on good terms since he kept a part-time job with the same Boston cluster. As far as the shift switch on Coast I dunno. I really don't see the difference in audience appeal for either Chris or David so either handles either shift well enough. Who knows? Sometimes decisions are made just because it's time for a decision.

Four Words: Experience, Accounting, Cha, Ching.

That's 3 words unless you're using a Chinese dictionary but then again if Eileen Dover is 2 words instead of 3 you may be onto something.

The afternoon shift traditionally makes MORE than middays, so O'Leary would be up for more dough. With more experience, he would make MORE, so the move wouldn't be a money saver, UNLESS...it's voicetracked.

I wouldn't be surprised if the tail end of the afternoon shift were voicetracked but there may be more opportunities to track middays and free Eagan for production, although both guys seem to do a lot of voice prod for the station.

Let me explain:

First, "Cha" is one word, "Ching" is another. Ask anyone on the Fung Wah bus to New York.

Secondly, I suppose it's really just the accounting. I bet the salaries didn't change one iota. These days of corporate radio, everything is line items and budgets. I imagine it's hard to justify paying middays more than afternoons to the bean counters who watch that crap like hawks. So, they swap'em. David is simply great - very experienced; but Chris is much more upbeat for drive-time, even if it's his first gig.
