Coast 93.3 What's happening?

Yesterday I heard Barry White (I believe it was Can't Get Enough Of Your Love), Boston (More Than A Feeling) and today The Weather Girls (It's Raining Men). They have been adding more 70's dance, soul, and rock music. This I cannot understand since B101 already has the 70's covered. Also I heard Tell Her About It by Billy Joel this morning on B101. What year did that come out? It looks like Coast may be starting to ease us into a new format. I can't think of any other format that what I have been hearing would lead to except the Jack (adult hits) format. If they kept just adding 70's music and nothing else, they would end up overlapping B101's format. I have also heard songs that I have not heard before on Coast from the 80's, 90's, and today. Any ideas what's going on at Coast?
______________

I'm not sure it sounds so different than the eclectic mix they always play. But the thing I think is interesting about all of these stations jumping on the Jack bandwagon... is that "formats" came to be for a reason. Stations used to play more variety... until studies showed more people would tune in when the songs were specific and repetitious! All of these stations will slowly but surely begin to cut down their playlists after the novelty wears off.

A few years ago when WSNE did "Way Back Wednesdays and Weekends" they leaned toward the Disco Sound.I guess they want to keep an edge on Females filtering in 70's and early 80's Dance as the Bee is leaning towards the Rock Hit's of the 70's that interest both Males and Females as HJY go's after the Males.
I hope I said that right.

I do believe they (CC)are up to something with the toying they are doing with Coast.
Edited by kenwood on 06/01/05 11:18 PM.

Well there's always been complaining on here about Coast's music repetition so at least there's something new being done. There are some songs I hear on HJY, Coast, & B101 in spite of the stations' 3 different formats, but I'm not sure that diary keepers really get confused by that sort of thing & wonder which of the 3 stations they're listening to when they hear The Eagles. I would have liked to have seen Coast just go deeper & heavier on 80s music & leave the 70s to B101 & HJY. If nothing else there's a major Supertramp revival in Providence radio.

It seems like The Eagles - Hotel California is now in heavy rotation on all three stations. Also, it seems like "B101 After Dark" is dead, so no more of the 80s AC songs, except for Stevie Wonder's I Just Called To Say I Love You, during the 70S AT 7 last night!!!

Not to mention Lite playing Hotel California but I believe they play only the live version which is softer. Also on Coast, have Chris Eagan & David O'Leary switched shifts? Chris is on middays & David on PM drive this week.
