Coast to Coast AM on Longwave?

Early this morning at 5AM EST I heard the Coast to Coast AM talk show on 329 kHz (or is it 330kHz) on my Eton E5. I looked up on C2C AM website and it doesn't show any LW frequencies. Anybody know where this 329 station is? (I'm in north central Va.)

It turns out that it came from WFVA 1230 in Fredericksburg, VA. I guess it's spurious signal? I don't hear it on my much older radio with LW, Sony ICF-2010.

You are receiving the 'image' frequency. If the I.F. of your radio is 450 kHz.,

then when you are tuned to 330 kHz the local oscillator is tuned to 780 kHz. ( 780 - 450 = 330 )

However, if your add 450 to 780, you get 1230. Whether you hear 330 kHz or 1230 kHz depends

on the front end selectivity of the tuned circuits ahead of the mixer, which on your radio,

apparently is rather poor. If there are other strong stations in your area you probably will hear

them too on 'Long Wave'.

Yep, that's one of the few failings of my Eton E5 as well. And, the MW signal doesn't necessarily have to be a blockbuster to show up on LW either. It's as if the LW band was an afterthought when they designed this system (hardly a surprise in China, where it's not used) as I have never had the same issue of spurious signals with the E5 on any of the SW bands.

>I pick up a weak 1160 in Chicago on LW<

I suppose it comes in at 260 kHz. "longwave" ?

and I was going to guess it was the mother ship relaying CTCAM back to Mission Control in the Crab Nebula for counter-intelligence purposes :D
