Retirement is quite enjoyable if you can afford it. I was able to comfortably retire at 62. Are we back in high school? Wtf? But it’s all good.Except I'm still living mine...![]()
I only wish I was 40 years younger so that I could try for 100 years in the business... part of the fun is the constant change.Retirement is quite enjoyable if you can afford it. I was able to comfortably retire at 62. Are we back in high school? Wtf? But it’s all good.
I honestly don't ever plan on retiring. It's not like I can't afford to, it's that I really enjoy working. Just one of the many reasons I've stayed in the media business for so long. The variety of challenges facing the industry and the ability to, even in a small way, help solve those challenges. I've been very fortunate over the years that my employers have allowed me the breadth to work with new tech and ideas to create more efficient operations, allowing for additional forms of revenue or savings that keep the business going. That's why I'm constantly looking at the present and into the future, because the past is great and all, but it's still the past.Retirement is quite enjoyable if you can afford it. No worries, InstallSC, Kelly and I go back and forth about a lot of stuff. We probably agree on more than we disagree. Peace."Keep your posts professional and respectful.

I guess this doesn't apply to you.
I'd mentioned that in another thread, that I'd program a station with fart sounds if I thought there would be a market for it. With that in mind; what about taking an Art Bell/Noory tact conspiracy-talk radio turned up to eleven, and call the new network 'QAnon Live'. Have all the self-titled patriots spew lots of crazy Pizza Gate and killing liberal's garbage. Have a good host, but make it a Crazytown free for all.Last night Coast played the old clip of the guy supposedly flying into Area 51 with Art Bell hosting the show.
George Noory does a good job. The show has gone through some changes but I think they are mirroring what their audience has morphed into. At least, they have scaled back the political rhetoric during the Trump years.
While you might be able to find the one case somewhere in this vast expanse of a planet…um, no. Teens may be curious about a great many things, some of which are eternal and perhaps to the consternation of many parents, AM radio isn’t one of them.I think curious teens might seek out AM stations. There are certainly many still out there. It is dangerous to call AM dead, when it really isn’t. Despite the bashing, many AM stations are still doing well and hanging in there as we approach 2023.
Like Rush Limbo...You mean just like most of the broadcast and new media professors at colleges everywhere who have never worked in radio and TV stations or run a web service or written software for the web.
Or just like Hollywood stars and producers who tell us how the government should be run yet have never held an elected position since they were the head of the drama club in High School.
America is filled with professional commentators who talk about things they have never done.
Angry white man (mostly) talk radio.... dittos.WHAT??? HAHAHAHAHA! Unless inferior-sounding-old-angry-white-male-talk is an app on their phone, you really see some interest there? OMG, that's hilarious.
Many what? Old, white, angry males?
They hang in there as long as Boomer/old people listen. As old people die off, so will AM.
Spot-on.OK, fair enough. But you know -- not every radio listener is into political punditry. They get their news overload on TV and over the internet. It clobbers people 24/7, along with the 24/7 news cycle.
It's the same reason they switch off the news station and tune into the music station. Reality overload
I don't know what was intended here, but a man traveling by bike through communities along the Mississippi River wrote this for his local newspaper about one of the towns: "Home of Rush Limbaugh and a Roswell type alien crash".Like Rush Limbo...
He spouted off lots of opinions.... came across as a know-it-all....
Yet here he was a college drop-out...
As a reporter uncovered, when he was hosting that radio show in Sacramento, hadn't ever bothered to register to vote...
And I've heard intelligent callers phone in questions when Noory interviews serious guests,
Those guests, admittedly are few and far between, but the callers are often quite intelligent.
Just as many who go to college should not be there, there are some who drop out because it is intensely boring and tedious.Like Rush Limbo...

Lots of people, particularly in states that are overwhelmingly either Red or Blue, either don't register or don't vote because they feel so far in the minority that it does not good. World-wide, the US has among the lowest percentages of eligible voters who actually cast a vote.As a reporter uncovered, when he was hosting that radio show in Sacramento, hadn't ever bothered to register to vote...

Could very well be that the station or syndicator isn't making enough revenue to justify keeping a live all night talk show going.Last night on "The Conspiracy Show with Richard Syrett," Syrett said that he was ending the program which has aired for 13 years on Toronto's CFZM. Since the 59-year-old Syrett has mentioned guest hosting C2C, I was wondering if he was being groomed as a replacement for the 72-year-old Noory. For those who've heard Syrett on C2C, how does he stack up against Noory or even Bell?
BTW, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, just a long-time DXer who found "The Conspiracy Show" about 11 years ago while scanning the AM dial one night. I have continued to listen to it online from time to time.
Whether it's true or not, Syrett emphasized that leaving was his call. He went on to say that station ownership and management were surprised when he told them of his decision.Could very well be that the station or syndicator isn't making enough revenue to justify keeping a live all night talk show going.
Maybe because he wasn't getting paid?Whether it's true or not, Syrett emphasized that leaving was his call. He went on to say that station ownership and management were surprised when he told them of his decision.
There's some serious numbers. Not really.I think most people discovered it through DXing, just as I did.
Yes, that's called a 'chat window' or a 'chat room'. A lot of YouTuber's and other social media platforms use it via this thing called 'The Internet'.The online listeners have formed a community and there is a running chat that goes on throughout the broadcast.
