Coast to Coast Countdown 2026

This is far and away the best New Years show I've ever seen in my life. I'm not sure whether it's syndicated or a CW program (I'm watching it on KAZT/7 in Phoenix and the NYC segment is based at WPIX/11, both CW affiliates), but this is not only entertaining (and live), but actually acknowledges that we have four time zones on the US Mainland, not just Eastern Time.

They aired the usual Times Square ball drop at Midnight EST, but also aired a pretty nice show, including lots of fireworks, from Dallas at 12 AM CST (not sure which DFW station it came from). It has been cutting into a show at Wild Horse Pass (Gila River Casino) via KAZT for the Mountain Time Zone, and will be switching to Las Vegas, where the hosts are based, for the Pacific Time Zone. Sure beats LA.

Whoever put this together... BRAVO!!!!! Excellent job!

On the other hand, CBS lost the feed to Nashville's Big Bash show during the 8:00 hour ET. A power outage, apparently. A Matlock repeat was piped in as emergency programming until they could get back on the air from TN.

Dallas would have been KXAS 5. Lone Star NYE. Not syndicated like last year, unfortunately. None of the NBC affiliates in Waco/Wichita Falls/Abilene were taking it, so it was a local thing this year.

Went over to KTVB Boise for the Idaho Potato Drop not too long ago. COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES. THIS FIREWORKS SHOW WENT ON FOR OVER 17 MINUTES. If only I could have been there to see it. A 250th birthday kickoff, with terrific fireworks and a patriotic soundtrack plus the usual countdown. Boise has everyone beat this year. Good luck, Las Vegas.

EDIT - Nasty, terrible fog throughout Western Washington. That's bad news for KING 5's New Years at the Needle tonight.

My wife and I enjoyed hearing acts with music we recognize, but a subchannel of WTRF-TV (Wheeling, WV) cut in at inappropriate times with commercials. They straightened it out sometime before midnight, however. It was a great show, not pandering to cohost antics such as from CNN.

Pacific time was a letdown vs. KTVB and the KXAS broadcast in previous time zones. Seattle fog never went away, KING 5 touted "the biggest fireworks show ever on the Needle", and yet only the bottom 20% of the Needle could be seen at midnight...
Las Vegas was pouring rain. Fireworks decent but nothing like Boise. Also, the synchronized soundtrack was skipping constantly, somebody made a big boo-boo on the computer system.

Just go rewatch the Idaho Potato Drop. No fireworks show came close to this one. This was something very special. Many teases, "grand finales" only to go to the next song and wow us again! 17 minutes straight!
Unfortunately, the incredible show was marred by a child being injured by flying glass during the show, per KTVB and other Boise stations.

Reunion Tower did the half-fireworks/half-drone show, and it was very cool to watch. A rocket ship, a bottle of champagne, other effects. Great soundtrack too.

The CBS Nashville show had some great moments too...Zach Top was awesome, so was Dierks Bentley, and man have the Rascal Flatts guys aged. Gary not so much, but the guitarists...goodness!

NBC had a great “Fireworks Around the World” show with displays from Hong Kong, Paris, London, etc. including music. It was hosted by Tom Llamas. I hope they do it again next year! You can watch it here:

I tuned into a few seconds of that. I’d rather it be clean audio no music or commentary.

It was Nexstar produced and I believe all Nexstar stations or most Nexstar stations carried it. Except I read in the press release that WPLG in Miami carried it, so it was offered to non Nexstar stations too. It was not CW, just Nexstar produced. Based out of KLAS in Las Vegas. Here in Denver both Nexstar's KWGN and KDVR aired it. Except KWGN CW aired it starting at 9 and KDVR started at 10-30 after the news. I agree a lot of great music on the show! They were proud of that as the promos for the show said "Tune in for bands and songs you know and love". I also like they show all 4 time zones. I think they have been doing New years Coast to Coast Live sence 2017 if I remember right. I enjoy watching it some each year.

I didn't care for NBC's show. Just a bunch of pop culture garbage. At midnight they did toast the new year, and at what appeared to be the exact moment, the "legal" station ID appeared--WCNC-TV Charlotte or whatever it said, and two translators.

CW7 in Phoenix (Nexstar) had the Rose Parade feed from sister station KTLA-the one with no commercial interruption (but had ads popping in on the right side of the screen occasionally. Surprisingly 3TV (which is Gray Media) had the same feed..with no announcers, just what was being heard live at the Rose Parade. Did 3TV just pick up the "raw" KTLA feed?

I don't know what I watched but it was the first thing to come up on Google that actually looked like a video rather than an article explaining how to watch which likely wouldn't actually tell people how to watch.

It wasn't Leeza Gibbons and I never saw a reference to KTLA. But the interruptions were short and I don't think I missed anything, except when the hosts' audio was so poor I couldn't tell what they were saying. A lot of times an announcer speaking to the people actually there drowned them out but I couldn't hear him either. And marching bands also drowned out the hosts. Sometimes I couldn't her the hosts at all. And someone named Pressley couldn't be heard in one of her appearances.

Both Denver Nexstar stations aired the Rose Parade, but KWGN aired the 2 hour pre show from 7-9 am as well and KDVR just airs the parade the last few years. Interesting that KTVK aired it as well without the announcers.

The best part of the Nashville show was CeCe Winans. She sang "Goodness of God" in the second half. Pretty awesome to see worship music on a major network during a NYE celebration, and believe me I was singing along and praising like a Sunday service. Paging Forrest Frank for next year. Or even Brandon Lake ft. Jelly Roll? That would be something to see on Rockin' Eve.
Has there been a Rockin' Eve or "Happy New Year America" in the past that had a gospel or Christian artist featured before or after the ball drop? Even Amy Grant?

I was pleased ABC had Diana Ross singing songs that were popular when I was in college or around that time. I didn't have time to watch live as I was looking around, but the recording is there to watch tonight.
She wasn't hitting the notes right so we know it wasn't Autotune. That's positive. On the other hand, after resting a little, she sounded a little too perfect.

Back in the early ‘90s there was a program just like this; however, it only lasted two years. In recent years I would scour the internet for celebrations in each time zone. I now find some via Roku Channel and individual station apps.

I noticed this past new year’s eve that FOX O&Os in the central time zone held their own show based out of KRIV “FOX 26” Houston TX.
