COAST TO COAST DX RECEPTION?

We always enjoy reading about the regional DX reception within various areas of the United States, but has anyone had DX reception, for example, on the east coast from a west coast FM or TV signal or vice versa? I read some posts about DX reception from, for example, some Denver TV stations to the East Coast, but what any DXing from cities like Los Angeles or San Diego to the east coast? I imagine that would be difficult, given factors like the jet stream and the mountainous areas on the west coast, but I was curious to see if anyone had this experience.

Best I've ever done was WASH FM from Washington, D.C.in Calgary, Alberta, which is within site of the rockies. I was never able to get anything while I was in Vancouver B.C. that wasn't local, from Bellingham, WA. or Seattle.

For TV and FM conditions known as "double hop" sporadic E would be required for coast to coast receptions.
It has been done, but is very rare. It probably happens more often than observed though as the usually stronger "first hop" signals will mask over the 2nd hop. It's very common on the 50MHz ham band, even mutilpe "hops" such as this evening when signals as far as Japan were into Florida. In 2006 a DXer in Oregon received 93.9 WKYS Washington DC along with some FM's from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Ontario. Personally my best above 50MHz is TV2 KBCI Boise, ID at 1850 miles briefly.

TV: Farthest West I've ever received hear on the right coast, is the Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.
FM: Ditto
AM: KFI Los Angeles, received faintly in central Georgia about thirty years ago.

How much of the USA does Clear Channel's 850 KOA (50kW nd) Denver cover?

I've never received even a trace of it here in central Connecticut. I may get 850 a bit from Boston at times, but that's it.

KOA is a regular catch in Nashville (noisy, but definately there).
As for best AM DX...KNX...5:00am in 1988 or so. Just once, but it was KNX: I was surprised to hear traffic reports at 3am ...
the phrases "on the 101" and "high desert weather" clinched it

I've heard KOA several times in the metro Atlanta area, weakly, but able to be heard.

Anywhere east of Atlanta, the frequency is taken over by the 850 in Gainesville or Birmingham at night.

I am curious to see how long ago did you receive KOA here in Atlanta and how late at night? It seems
everytime I turn to 850 AM at nighttime the Gainesville Station is pretty dominant but no sign of KOA.

Only a few months ago, in December, I received KOA in Alpharetta, at about 10 o'clock at night. It was weak, but you could distinguish it from the other stations on the frequency.

I also received it one time in Lilburn, off I-85 one night, in a hotel room.

Got it on two winter nights last year from Chester County, PA. Confirmed each time with car ads and the TOH ID.

However, normally that frequency is a mish-mash of Cleveland's WKNR and a station from Norfolk, VA.
