Coast to Coast is a horrible show

Noory begins his show by giving some of the news, then has a guest on for 2 minutes, then goes back to the news, then has on another guest for 2 minutes. The show isn't focused. The paranormal subjects aren't presented interestingly. Also, sometimes he comes back from a break, and plays a song for a minute and a half, and then goes back to the break. That's wasting airtime. Ian Punnett is very bad at hosting too.

Uh yeah, and Art Bell has illegal aliens from outer space holed up in his
formerly vacant double-wide trailer in Pahrump. ;D

Regarding the break, the music lasts a while because affiliates wanted more time to sell. Affiliates get 12:10 per hour on the clocks, but the bumper music gives them another 2:00.

This usually happens at the top of the hour :)06), if not the half-hour, as well.

Why the caps on the words "Padded Rooms"? I had no idea it was a registered trademark...

They have to spend five minutes giving 36 phone numbers (East of the Rockies, West of the Rockies, on top of the Rockies). If one number is good enough for Rush, why not C2C?

To me, the different numbers thing always seemed to create more mystery, like Art Bell was trying to make you think there are so many people calling that they need different lines for different parts of the country!
But realistically, it's the middle of the night, people with a story to call in about probably need a minute to recognize "Oh he's giving out numbers, I better pay attention right now." And it helped fill time and keep Art focused on his work to be rattling off a list of numbers.

The way it probably started was because all the magic happened in Art Bell's shed in Pahrump, and he had two lines installed by the Area 51 Telco, but there was no way technology out there could be able to switch them over, thus sixteen phone numbers. ;D

Until recently, WABC had carried "C2C" until they decided that it didn't fit their quota of "all-Obama-bashing, all-the-time," so they created "Red Eye Radio" and WOR snatched up Noory soon thereafter.

We who know that we are normal people are quick to roll our eyes and cluck our tongues: "tsch, tsch, tsch". Boy! They are really out there. Never in polite society admit that you listen to Coast to Coast.

Now. Will someone explain to me how Coast to Coast is different than the rest of Talk Radio?

(Please stand-by while I run to the storm cellar. ;D )

I'll add a quick side note...I had a customer service job and a couple of times I'd end up talking to an insurance agent from Pahrumph NV and we'd end up talking about their neighbor, Art Bell. Always spoke highly of him..just another neighbor

Glenn Beck's show doesn't not have on conspiracy theorists, and the guests aren't crazy.

Ah, we all see the world through rose-colored-glasses, or some other color of our choice.

I think a well reasoned argument can be made that Glenn Beck is factory-equipped with conspiracy theory as standard equipment. He doesn't need guests to provide the theory. (But some of them do add features to his standard factory equipment.)

His show is nothing like Coast to Coast.

You have a point there. The style and content do not overlap. But both programs are scary in that they remind you that both audiences are made up of some strange people.

The original topic of the thread is "Coast to Coast is a horrible show. Though the two shows are different in content and style, the two shows are "equally horrible". But then again it is a world where people are free to be strange. That's why auto manufacturers build yellow cars.
