Coast to Coast loses Ross Mitchell's voice

I guess he'll just have one number to announce with RedEye, not 10 (East pf the Rockies, West pf the Rockies, On Top of the Rockies, below the Rockies, on Guam)

You all got that right = What are they thinking? = I agree with all replies = Nothing like Doug McIntyre's RED EYE RADIO = It's a failure for sure = Just can't listen = Nothing interesting at all = So many people disapointed about the move = To me it looks as though they thought by changing the announcer that it would help this god awful show, if we can call it that.

PLEASE = BRING BACK THE ORIGANL RED EYE RADIO

I had to chuckle at one of the Red Eye guys complaining the other night about getting ads that don't interest him every time he uses Google. Imagine that, something free that subjects you to a ton of unwanted ads. And now, the Owner Operator Report.

You know this used to be a trucker show, right? The Midnight Trucker... so it still caters to that particular up-all-night audience. I happen to enjoy the show. After years of Coast to Coast AM, I can hardly listen anymore because it's 95% tripe ("psychics", "mediums", "sensitives", "intuitives", UFO abductees, etc.). I'm usually up all night, so I have listened to a LOT of Coast to Coast, but I usually have to tune away these days because it's only about 5% non-whack-job content. Eric Harley and Gary McNamera have been doing Midnight Trucker for many years. It's always been interesting, even if you aren't in the trucking industry. To me it just seemed like a goofy name change to Red Eye Radio. They seem to be leaning more towards caller-based, current events-oriented Conservative talk now, with trucking-related commercials and features, but that's just catering to their audience. HARDLY a train wreck! I'm listening to it now. Of course they're talking about the over-discussed Trayvon/George situation.

I found this because I noticed they started using Ross Mitchell. He made an announcement something like... "I bet you haven't heard this voice on this show before. I made the switch. You should, too." It prompted me to hit Google and find out what happened, because I definitely recognized that deep voice from C2C. Man have there been a lot of shakeups lately! I'm in Dallas where WBAP and KLIF have completely juggled shows. Still trying to get used to it!

Peace,
MC

If I were forced to choose between Coast to Coast or the current Red Eye Radio I'd choose Red Eye. But that's not to say that the best choice wouldn't be to turn the radio off! Coast is too full of the paranormal; RedEye is so full of commercials (many for motor-oil and such) that there's barely time for one host, much less two, to develop any meaningful discussion. Having two hosts on this show is nonsense.

Fortunately there's Internet streaming, so I'm able to stream Jon Grayson out of St. Louis -- a good alternative. The show, like Doug McIntyre's Red Eye Radio, is a simple, straightforward talk show. Grayson doesn't have McIntyre's depth of historical knowledge or unique sense of humor, but he's engaging and the show is a good mix of monologue, interviews and callers -- and a reasonable spot load! The more I listen the more I like it.

MC,

I don't think Coast to Coast and the Midnight Radio Network are synonymous. The Midnight Radio Network still airs. WJR in Detroit carries it.

I agree that Coast to Coast is way out there. Definitely not my cup of tea.

Yes, I know, but that has nothing to do with my pointing out the irony of a guy who makes a living by providing a free service supported by ads complaining about using a free service and having to see ads.

I wouldn't mind, but their program clock only allows for about 35 minutes of show per hour. And every once in a while they have some recurring "guest" actually use up program time to pimp his truck lube.

I never gave the impression that these two were the same. Red Eye Radio USED to be Midnight Radio Network, and previously Midnight Trucker. Evidently a bunch of shows are swapping names. Coast to Coast is the "same as it ever was."

MC (not the other MC... I just noticed there's a guy called MC on here. I am MCLowe, but use MC as a sig. DOH!)

C2C continues its slide into new territory and not necessarily for the better. It's sad to think there was a "heyday" for the show and that was back when it was still Art Bell from his house in the high desert, kingdom of Nye. ;)

With all the new hosts who aren't anything special and all the changes, it's just not entertaining anymore. At least we still have Phil Hendrie, who is old hat but still amusing occasionally.

When the only local talk station picked up red eye radio, we gave it a week until we gave up and bought an Internet radio. The show IS a train wreck...nervous, over-consulted hosts who are constantly talking about "what's coming up" and are just not well read...they just run through the Drudge stories (I already read them the day before) and do the tired Hannity routine. I have to admit it was funny when they said the banks were not to blame for the financial crisis and several callers "schooled" them. Over their heads.

I work overnight as a board op at a station that used to air Hendire aka. my favorite Hell raiser and Red Eye is a change. I will always miss Bud and Robert arguing (yes, I know it's a setup, as I stated, I used to board op him locally). Red Eye took a few nights to get used to, but it's really grown on me.

I doubt anyone "schooled" these guys. They are shrewd and intelligent Conservative commentators who have been on the radio for years (seven just doing their current show together).

I'm thinking you just don't agree with their way of thinking, which is fine, but when I hear this guys debating with a caller, I am never left with the impression that anything is over their heads. If anything... it's just the opposite. But hey, we can agree to disagree, right?

Never heard of this 'Red Eye' business (in SW Ohio).

But, Noory's show isn't all that bad. I think the quality of his guests and topics has been getting better for some time now. Some topics just don't interest me at all though...but....thankfully he usually has 2 topics per night, usually with pretty knowledgeable guests.

I don't think they let on anymore dudes who have built a time machine by tapping into the power lines on his street.

You have to admit that the topics he has on are better than someone doing a rehash of Day Old Drudge stuff.
