COFETEL Approves HD Radio along US border

Mexico is allowing stations within 200 miles of the border to try HD Radio. It's more or less a pilot program. If it goes well they'll allow the rest of Mexico to do it.

HD Radio has not been a rousing success in the US. But no doubt some of Mexico's operators will want to brag that they were the first in their market to broadcast HD Radio.

So in other words, they dont care to throw more Hash up our way, but they want the rest of the dial in Mexico to stay interference free for now? CLEVER..... :-\

Just out of curiosity, which Border station are actually broadcsting in HD? I heard XROK was in HD, but I'm nowhere near the border to confirm this.

Also, are they broadcasting with the same regulations as U.S. stations, or are they allowed to broadcast at higher power in IBOC.
