Coincidence or devious? KIRO-FM on and KUOW powers down

KUOW has on their website that they're powering down to a lower wattage. KIRO-FM, on the other hand, just happens to get on 97.3 at almost the same exact time. Here's the blurb on KUOW's website: http://www.kuow.org/

Coincidence? Or planned out by KIRO?
 
Wow, that's really out there Steve... There is a tower crew up on the Channel 9/KUOW/KEXP tower painting the tower. It will take them the better part of August to get it all painted. All transmissions are required to reduce power for worker safety.

Everything on Capitol has to power down.

The tribune tower was pained a few weeks ago, and now its channel 9/ KUOW/ KEXP's turn.

KEXP, and KUOW will have a fairly noticable difference.

KIRO took the opportunity to make a splash on FM when news-talk FM ratings showhorse KUOW was at it's weakest and hastily moved the launch date up, in my opinion. That or they just wanted to air their first pre-season Seahawk game. But it kinda makes you wonder..........doesn't it?

I love radio conspiracies as much as the next guy, but I really think this was simply a coincidence. Good for KIRO if they can take full advantage of the situation. But, I know from the inside that the KUOW tower-painting project has been on the books for some time. And, August? Gee? Dry weather, maybe???

NOW it all makes sense!.....

(DREAM SEQUENCE BEGINS)

August 12th, 4:19 AM.....

Jane Shannon is prepping for her part of the morning show when the phone rings....

"News/Talk 710 KIRO?"

"The painters have arrived.....I repeat....The...painters...have...arrived..."

Immediatally, Jane hangs up and rushes down to the FM studio where she sees two interns playing rock paper scissors.

"Ummm...hey guys....uh, it's 4:20 in the morning and....."

"DUDE! IT'S 4:20!" shouts one intern to the other. They high five.

"Umm yeah...it is. So I'll tell you what, here's $20 for each of you. Take the rest of the morning off, go get yourselves some breakfast and I'll take care of everything from here, OK?"

"AWRIGHT!" says one intern

"Wait a minute" the other says "The boss said we could take this station out with this Slayer CD"

"Ummm...yeah, don't worry, I'll take care of it, uh, which song?"

"Hell Awaits"

"OK...you got it, now you guys just have fun. Don't worry about anything else."

The interns leave the building, high-fiving.

Jane cuts off the music and turns up the KIRO simulcast on the FM board and rushes back to the KIRO studio....
