Col. David Hunt Clashes With Howie Carr and FoxNews

O

Omnibus

Guest
Howie Carr, himself not a veteran of anything but several marriages and hair and teeth transplants vainly tried to defend Donald Trump's behavior saying that John McCain is not a war hero. Carr showed his complete stupidity by attempting to compare some joke the equally obnoxious comedian Chris Rock made about McCain years ago as a justification of Trump's remarks.

Believing that his regular guest, Col. David Hunt, would come to Carr's defense he was surprised that Hunt did not and said that Trump must now get out of the race. Carr tried again with his juvenile comparison to change Hunt's mind but did not.

Carr then asked Col. Hunt if he would be on FoxNews to express the same opinion of Trump. Hunt hesitated and then basically said that the "Fair and Balanced" FoxNews did not want him on Fox News if he did not tow the party line.

I ask, only because I don't know: "Col." Hunt -- is he, in actual fact, a former military man,
or is that an honorary title/nickname?

He served 29 years in the Army and after retirement has been employed as an adviser and counterterrorism consultant. His impressive background is tempered by the fact that he's an Obama voter and a crappy fill-in host for the Fat Bastard, and has one of the worst voices in radio since the late Lynn Samuels.

I haven't heard what either Carr or Hunt said about Trump, but I think Trump is a huge jackass although I kind of like having him out there shooting his mouth off. The media fainting couches are getting a good workout. I just hope he doesn't Perot the election into the Clinton column.

Its cause does not make it any easier to listen to. I should point out that I like the guy as a guest, but I can't stand him hosting.

Col David Hunt is an American Hero. Believe he said his brother died in Vietnam too.

I agree, the Colonel's voice is harsh and his speech is halting at times, and it sounds 1000 times worse over his crappy cellphone connection. They could at least toss him either a landline or even an ISDN line.

Thanks for the Col. Hunt clarification. It sounds like he has reason to be proud of his military service.
While I may not agree with John McCain's politics, he is a bona fide hero, whose reputation is above
reproach. I can honestly say I have as much use for Howie Carr, as I have for Donald Trump!

Yeah, unlike his predecessor, Carr never served in the military. Howie Carr is 64 years old and right in the Vietnam era age group to have been drafted. Bet he used the kids from his first wife as an excuse for a deferment. Believe he now does not even acknowledge they are his kids. What a poor excuse for a human being. No wonder Howie in love with Donald Trump. Hey, that is now legal across the country. Maybe, Howie will become Trump's new "husband" and he can live in Mira Lago legally.... ; -)

Google says he was born on January 17th, 1951.
The draft lottery when he was 18:

It was the 1970 draft, only for people who were born from '44 thru '50, so he escaped, though he would have gotten a pretty safe number.

He was also exempt from the 1971 draft, since they only added people born in 1951.

He became eligible for the 1972 draft, and in that year he got a low number: https://www.sss.gov/Portals/0/PDFs/1972.pdf

Oh, did I say "people". I meant MEN.

Wiki and other sources incl Howie on air have said
1-15-52..,A little over 10 yrs before me.Yes many
teens got drafted...as the Paul Hardcastle song (using
parts of a documentary) pointed out,the avg age
of a Vietnam combat soldier was "Nineteen". So if he
had just turned 21 in early 73,was he already married
and had a child or two by then? That's the only way
he could have used such an exemption. He did
say he wasn't drafted as he got a high number and
again the draft ended in 73,but I doubt he was even married
by then,much less a father.

Maybe he used a college deferment. As a button
popular at the time said,"I'll stay in school till
'82 so I don't have to go to Dien Bien Phu." (One
way of draft dodging..self mutilation,as John Wheelwright
does in the John Irving book A Prayer For Owen
Meaney. Cuts off part of a finger.)

In 3pm hr when caller said Howie jumped
the shark in continuing the Trump talk he
said part of his show was entertainment
and Trump's behavior,like giving out
Lindsay Graham's phone number on stage
stage,
was a part of it.

Carr has said on air several times that when he became eligible for the draft he got a high number and was in no danger of being called.

I believe his oldest daughter Frannie Carr Toth is only in her early 30's and was born around 82 or 83. Frannie is the online content producer for WBUR and previously served as a producer on WGBH's Greater Boston TV Program. You can almost trace the end of Howies on air rants about PBS and Ch.2 to the day his oldest started working at Ch.2.

I like Col Hunt he seems like a real intelligent and smart guy but can not listen when he fills in.

Lynn Samuels she really grew on me whe I lived in NYC. Towards the end of her career, in addition to her Sirius show she also owned and managed a laudromat in NYC. I actually found her stories about the customers rather funny.

Howie talked about WBUR spending their money on Bose Wave Radios (maybe it was a perque for a donorship..?)
Howie's books say "Frandel LLC". His parents: Howard Louis "Del" Carr Sr and Frances Carr, with his first daughter named after his mom. (Howie Sr lived to be 103 I believe) And since he went to UNC,
note two of his daughter are named "Caroline" and "Charlotte"...
