Cold segues between songs/commercials?

I’ve noticed more often than not that Audacy’s Greenville SC cluster will go straight in to commercials after a song or come back from commercials without any kind of sweep or liner. Is this common with Audacy stations? I’m not sure if it’s deliberate or automation mishap (god knows they have plenty), but just thought it was interesting.
 
I have heard straight into commercials and/or no sweeper, liner or jingle back to music on a few stations in PPM markets. PPM doesn't need an ID to count the listener. In my early days in radio we called that lazy or you had some hot sounding girl on the phone.

Station identity is not needed for PPM, but it is badly needed to get listeners to know hwere to come back later or the next day.
 
There are apparently a couple different pro/con views on jumping straight to a break from music:
Pro: By running a recognizable liner or talent talking out of music, it signals to the listener a break is about to roll. Going straight to the break eliminates that signal, potentially keeping listeners from tuning away because of the break.
Con: Eliminating the element separating a set of music to break is unusual, and might sound clunky. Especially to those used to a separation between music and spots. And of course, radio people and radio nerds.
 
Running a liner/sweeper saying "Now back to the music!" just emphasizes the fact that you weren't playing music for the past few minutes.

Just start the song and play a quick ID on top of the intro (if it's not a cold open).
