From his MySpace:
On Friday afternoon, shortly after The Colin Boyd Show and much in the manner these things are always handled in radio, my "position was terminated" at 101.5, Free FM. I was, unceremoniously, Showbiz Bitchslapped.
The Big Picture and The Colin Boyd Show no longer exist at that station, and while it took roughly 11 years there to build what I've left behind, it took about 40 seconds to hear why I was no longer wanted or needed at the station.
I was told it was budget cutbacks, and I can't believe the management said it with a straight face. Because that's not really true.
So thank you all for your support of both shows since you started listening, whether it was last week, six months ago, or if you go all the way back with me to the glory days of The Zone, when I was alongside John Holmberg or Chuck Powell, both fine broadcasters and friends.
The Big Picture will live on, however. BigPictureRadio.com is my own site, so we'll still have reviews and everything else, trying to keep it business as usual over there.
We'll also start podcasting the show on that site and possibly here at My Space and on iTunes, as well. I do believe, though, that it's only a matter of time before the Damn Dirty Apes wind up back on the air somewhere, and in a more supportive environment than the one I'm leaving behind.
I'll still be writing reviews and interviews for College Times and in Las Vegas City Life, as well, so I'll still be around.
If you have anything to say, I'd welcome your thoughts either through this page or via e-mail at [email protected].
If you'd like to speak to the parties responsible, they're pretty easy to find. You can use [email protected] or something. Maybe it's [email protected]. Either way, feel free to give 'em the business.
