College football coverage

Are the networks using a several-second delay
on their college football games? I was watching
ABC's coverage of the Georgia-Georgia Tech game
last night while listening to the legendary voice
of the Dawgs, Larry Munson, on WSB radio. The
radio and television coverage were out of sync;
every play Munson called was over by the time
ABC showed the same play. Has the Janet Jackson
incident from nearly two years ago reached this
point?

I think it's more a case of satellite lag. (Game site to satellite to network to other satellite to affiliate) I get that a lot when I watch the Brewers on FSN North and listen to Bob Uecker on the radio; Uke has usually called the pitch a ball or strike about a second before it reaches the plate. And I wouldn't be surprised if there is a small delay added to that for the network.

It's been that way since at least 1998, when I started listening to games on the radio while watching on TV. It's about 3 seconds for standard networks and 5-7 for cable and HDTV over-the-airs.

Something that alot of radio networks have done is delay their broadcast 3-5 seconds so they line up better for television. Most only do it for away games, however, because of the number of people that listen to the broadcast in the stadium for home games.

No... that's no delay. That's just Bob.

And add another 7 seconds if you're watching via DirectTV or Dish network.

Same if your using broadcast digital (HD or not) OTA, vs cable or analog OTA.
