college football on FOX

With FOX now airing most of the BCS bowl games this year, do you think FOX will be able to lure any of the major confrences away from ESPN/ABC to FOX? I'm thinking if FOX can get the ACC or Big 10, they can air the game at noon eastern, then air baseball and baseball playoffs at 3:30.

I dont think FOX will be airing regular season cfb for several years yet/Maybe down the road they will but not in the next couple years

The acc contract with espn/abc runs till 2010

The Big 10 contract was recently extended to 2016,fox has a deal with them to create a big ten sports channel but wasnt awarded any games to air on the broadcast network

The pac 10 contract with espn abc runs to 2011

The big east contract with espn/abc runs till 2013

the 2 college football contracts still up for grabs are the sec deal with cbs espn with expires after 2008 and the big 12 deal with abc which ends after next season.

I think ABC has an exclusive window to negotiate a new deal with the Big 12 and most like will renew the deal.

The SEC might be the best chance fox has at getting regular season rights. But as in the big 12 cbs has an exclusive window to renew and most likely will.

I don't think Fox is all that interested in regular season college football games for the main Fox Network. They have plenty of regular season college football on their regional FSN networks. I think they see the BCS as the best package in college football and put all their eggs in that basket.

Plus, FOX has baseball most every Saturday during the CFB season. MLB won't answer to CFB Conferences, and CFB would do so only reluctantly.

Fox College Football

This year Fox has all the BCS games except the Rose Bowl, which has its own contract with ABC.

On a related note Pat Summerall will call the Cotton Bowl game for Fox on New Year's Day.

Um, NO. The CFB season runs through November, not October, and by the time the LCS runs around (which is after the first week of the playoffs) there is rarely more than one game a day.

It just seems odd for Fox to have the big end-of-season BCS games but none of the regular-season games that set them up.

Maybe they could leach off their FSN contracts...

The problem for Fox is that they'd probably have to buy a big package of games to make it worth their while. If they did that, they'd have to boot something else - like baseball. Contractually, they can't do that.

The only exception would be the Notre Dame package that NBC currently has.

Excellent. Have they announced who their BCS broadcasters are going to be?
