College radio in New England Suggestions

Hey Guys. I am not too far off from getting a Bachelors degree Up at my college However,
I am barely hanging in there for radio time Even Being a director of my station all I am allowed is 2 hours for radio even with open time spots..
I'm told by many "too professional for college radio"
Its Killing Me. I am up for suggestions for college radio stations looking for dj's who might be offered 2-3 shows a week of like 3-5 hour shifts somewhere in the MBI (music business Industry) department at a college in New england or Down towards the NYC tri-state area even if there is a bit of rotation involved.
Pm if you would like or... Post here I'd love to hear your responses and yes Military radio is not out of the question.

P.S.
If your going to bash me Just take it elsewhere... No one wants to hear negative responses

thanks

Jamie,

While college radio is fun, one thought would be to seek out either Bruce James and his people, or Barry Lunderville, and make yourself a few bucks at their stations while you are in the home stretches on the "Harvard on the Hill ". ??

Thanks for the suggestions,
I threw Bruce the resume.. they voice track now... I can literally say I am the only live Dj when I am on now at harvard on the hill as most of you say.. the next live Dj gets in at 6pm on Bruce'es station.. ;D
. As for Barry. I didn't think of him thanks!
you guys can always pm (message me) with any other suggestions

Does Lunderville even have an air staff? Any time I've been up that way all of his stations were just jukeboxes. The only voices I heard were Barry himself & some puker doing the weather.

Dumb question perhaps, but what does a non-comm need a traffic director for?

Keep track of Operator, Request and traffic Logs ( the music being played)

I don't think so beyond AM drive.......morning guy on 102.3 and 96.7, never heard a DJ on 93.7 or the AM

I'm kinda suprised no one could give me a college suggestion
Outch!

I also heard the notch had some openings too. I am going to look into that

because you're graduating from college with a degree.......it's time to get a job at a real, commercial radio station

Mainedude2007, that is true but I have 34 more credits to go, mostly internship and study abroad etc... uggh! I'm almost there... I either have r transfer elsewhere now beacuse most colleges have a 30 of 39 credit rule or bite the bullet now or never hence why I am open for suggestions.

Hi Jamie,

Sorry I haven't been able to reply sooner, internet connectivity woes. Anyway, while the military route is probably the most secure these days, it isn't likely you would get a broadcast position the first go around. My understanding is that they would place you in a unit public affairs office, which is ok for beginners, but for those itching to do radio, it would be another waiting game.

Besides, there was some speculation that the Army wasn't taking folks fresh off the streets to do it, (which seems odd to me). There are of course exceptions to every rule, but the Army isn't what you'd consider "flexible".

However, if nothing else panned out and you were at college's end, it might still be something to look into. I'd suggest also trying to get a job as a civilian with AFN (if you don't mind relocating overseas), but that's a long shot also because last I heard they were cutting back.

Sorry I don't have more optimistic news for you down this path. :-\

The Full Time On Air Job at 106.3 The Notch was filled, as I understand. Its now operating from St Johnsbury, VT and not Littleton anymore.
