College Stations

Some time ago someone asked about favorite shows on the college stations around here. Since it was during the winter break there were not a lot of posts. Well now that we are well into the spring session I was wondering what shows people enjoy out there. (I also wonder if anyone even still listens to mine) I for one have always loved WMBR Lost and Found. I also enjoyed listening to WMFO Coffee and Smokes with Alex when he was there. Anyone else?

Saturday nights on WMWM--doo wop with Uncle Henry's Basement 6-9 pm, then two shows rotate 9-midnight.
One week it'll be Rent Party with Doug Edwards (classic R&B/blues/soul) then the next it's Mike Silverstein
with Heart of Sat Night ("music on a theme")

by the way I spent yesterday and today in Burlington VT...the libs on this board must envy that city because they
have Air America (1070, days) and no more Howie Carr...that's OK. After 4 pm or so, both WRKO (despite
interference from 690) and WCRN started coming in.
Usually when I go to Burl VT I do it on a Sat/Sun and tape Vermont Public Radio's profiles-in-music show,
My Place (Sat 9 pm) and Mr Charlie's Sunday Morning Blues show, Blues For Breakfast, on WIZN, but I
was gone by the time they both aired.

I haven't had the chance to catch it lately. Glad to hear Doug Edwards is back on somewhere. I had wondered what happened to "Little Dougie" (that's what he used to call himself on WCGY).

You can hear three sound files of him currently on the WMWM site: him doing Uncle Henry's basement on
Jan 27, and two files of him doing Rent Party on Jan. 20.

Also for those who are curious, go to http://www.moviefrank.com to hear my friend Frank Ochieng's
appearance on Jordan Rich the other night. On the first file, I call in ("Bob from Burlington VT" because
that's where I was, about 39 minutes in. Up for a limited time.)

88.9 at night ( Hip Hop Show ) and 88.9 Saturdays and Sunday Night ( R&B show ) .

sad to say I haven't been listening to as much college radio lately... Radiobeat on WERS was really good when hosted by Matt Breen but I haven't listened since he stopped doing it. I also miss "Gender Talk" on WMBR and hope they'll resume the show at some point.
